I c what u mean with the windows... our windows will be timber but not through out.. the displays have timber at the front and the rest are aluminium... did u get suggestions from studiom. i think the timber door will look great ive driven past a few houses in the ponds and even ones with the aluminium windows cream, black colour have timber doors (fancy ones) and it looks really nice. http://dreamzattheponds.blogspot.com To be invited to our blog send a PM with your email. (which i thought was great as the proper timber ones are really expensive). So We will have brown bricks, grey render, dune windows, and then timberlook garage door and timber pivot front door with translucent glass... i'm hoping it will look ok. Especially once we put the timber slat side gates on either side of the house... so there will be a little more timber! Re: Who's building with M3tr!con in Sydney ? 47Jul 25, 2010 7:05 pm Timberlook Panelglide Garage door, do you have picture of this, Bek? We were quoted on Daikin FDYQN160 (15kw), by default, I wonder how many zones does it cover? Anyone here does Air Con from other supplier? My plan is to have more zones (at the moment, I was thinking about 7 zones: 4 on each room, 1 on Living Room/Kitchen, 1 on Rumpus, 1 on Play area), hoping that we will be able to minimize our electricity bill for the long run. Anyone know much adding a zone will cost? Thanks =) Re: Who's building with M3tr!con in Sydney ? 48Jul 25, 2010 8:27 pm The standard is for 2 zones (to be operable one or the other - day/night). An extra zone is $335 ea. We tried other quotes from external companies and while their overall A/C quote was cheaper. However asM won't allow any other contractors in during the build process we had to allow for the cost of ducting only at $4250 from M then add the unit from an external company the cost was more expensive than having M do the whole lot. M charge more for ducting than an external A/C company give credit back for (external company usually allow about $2000 - $2500 for this work). Hope this helps. Re: Who's building with M3tr!con in Sydney ? 49Jul 26, 2010 11:18 pm Hi Tempura, I had a similar plan to yours regarding the zones. However after talking to an air-conditioning installer I am having second a thought about it. Apparently the indoor unit in a ducted system runs at constant speed. So switching off zones only causes the airflow to increase in the remaining zones, which is noisier but may not really be much cheaper to run. The only system that has a variable speed indoor unit is made by Actron. I haven't investigated much this theory. It may be worthwhile to ask the question in the cooling/heating forum... DKP Re: Who's building with M3tr!con in Sydney ? 51Jul 27, 2010 5:59 pm tempura DKP, so how do you design your ducted air con in your home now? perhaps it will give me an idea. Hi Tempura, We are building the Laguna. Earlier we had the idea of closing off the open-plan living space at the rear of the house from the front with door, and create a dedicated zone for that. We were also thinking of creating a zone for each bedroom upstairs. The idea was to reduce running cost. However... Three bedrooms will be used with the 4th ones being a guest room. So there isn't much of a need for zoning each individual bedroom. Considering the potential airflow/noise issue the plan now is to have the whole upper floor as a single zone. As for the ground floor isolating the rear of the house does not make much sense because the front is where the staircase is and that area would always be conditioned anyway because it forms part of the airflow path going back to the return grille upstairs. So I guess the standard 2-zones system is the way to go then. The only limitation is that both floors cannot be conditioned simultaneously, which I think is not really an issue. I am not expert on the subject though so you might want to consult some air-conditioning specialist... DKP Re: Who's building with M3tr!con in Sydney ? 52Jul 29, 2010 10:26 am Thanks DKP. much appreciated. Anyone has the fine print of M "Guaranteed 18 weeks build period"? I just would like to understand the terms and conditions for it, to get $300 per week, in case it exceed that time frame. I heard that we must fight HARD for it I don't want this to happen, but i need to look at the worst case scenario if it does happen. just to prepare myself. and with regards to 150 days after 1st deposit ($1000) put in ... if passes 150 days and the fault is with us (delay in land registration ... which i can't see why this is our fault, but o well what can we do), we need to pay M 0.5% of the total house price (e.g. $300,000), which is $1,500. Let's say next month after that, it is still not registered, do we pay 0.5% of $300,000, or $301,500? And what will the turning point (end of us paying that 0.5% per month)? e.g. is it the day when we see that there's M3tr1c0n truck/builder in front of the lot? My apology for my lack of knowledge. Re: Who's building with M3tr!con in Sydney ? 53Jul 29, 2010 4:03 pm Tempura, the 0.5% is based on your final contract price. You will no longer be required to pay the 0.5% once you are ready (i.e. you have your DA approval and construction certificate). So basically once everything is in place for M to start building. You actually pay the 0.5% AFTER handover too... so you won't actually need to pay it before then. It will just be raised as a variation and you have to pay it after.
