Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 10, 2009 11:54 am Considering getting double robes in minor bedrooms - but I cant imagine even I would need more than that much hanging space let alone a kid. Do you manage to fill your robe or is it just for show/resale? Re: Double robes a must have?? 2Nov 10, 2009 11:59 am Depends whether your kids' rooms will have chests of drawers - mine don't. I prefer to have shelves and drawers in half the wardrobe, hanging space in the other half. With just a bedside table, that takes care of clothes storage for my boys. Then there's room left over for a desk, shelves and plenty of floor space for playing or lounging around on bean bags or whatever.... Extra storage never goes astray regardless. The additional space is good for shelves or boxes and bins of toys, games, school bags, and whatever other miscellaneous stuff they accumulate. Re: Double robes a must have?? 3Nov 10, 2009 12:07 pm I grew up in two houses that had doubles robes in all bedrooms. Both me and my brothers filled them across all ages. Not necessarily with clothes, but also with stuff. Toys, etc. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Double robes a must have?? 4Nov 10, 2009 12:27 pm Hi dragonflychic, Double robes were a must have for us for two reasons. One, there was enough room to do it and still have good sized bedrooms. Two, I like the minimalist look so being able to store everything in robes is ideal. As mentioned above we won't use the whole length for hanging either, we'll probably put in shelving or drawers in one half. I don't think you can ever have too much storage J1. Re: Double robes a must have?? 5Nov 10, 2009 12:39 pm +1 as above. the more storage the better, things change and you never know what you'll need to have in those robes. Plus for resale value, I'd definitely put them in. Caz & Co ALL MOVED IN!! Now comes all the hard work-decorating.... With a chest of drawers there's a surface on top to get filled up with kids' precious "junk" - if the chest of drawers is in the cupboard you can just shut the door and not have to look at it. I don't know if double cupboards are essential, but they sure are nice to have... Re: Double robes a must have?? 7Nov 10, 2009 1:51 pm I agree! As mentioned by others, you can never have too much storage, and would be a real winner for resale - if you have the space go for it! Either way, I love all the storage we have, although I am quiet sure the children will fill their robes with crap!
