Re: slabs 81Apr 03, 2010 6:01 pm I would like to come back with a datailed diamensions soon. the cracked area were marked inthe pics previously posted. Re: slabs 83Apr 03, 2010 11:58 pm Lex - Thanks for taking the time and effort in posting a very detailed and informative post, well done. Maybe you can also put it in Onc's concrete thread as well for others to read (make it easier for them when searching). Re: slabs 86Apr 05, 2010 9:31 am Ive see quite a few waffle pod slabs without piers Lex, crazy in my opinion. The sewer and drainage trenches around the house alone are a solid reason to pier all external walls, no matter what your building on. (rock or shale excluded) Waffle slabs are far superior to the conventonal raft slab in my opinion, especially on highly reactive sites. I honestly dont know why anyone bothers building the old raft method of slabs anymore. Re: slabs 87Apr 10, 2010 7:16 pm Thanks, cclarity! Yeah, so weird Anyway, forgot to mention one thing - it seems that lots of formworks have off-cuts of mesh dropped basically anywhere within the formwork. Most of the time it's right at the bottom, on the plastic. Some pieces are quite large too. So, just like any other steel within the formwork, these pieces can also rust and cause problems. Seems like experts in this area (and I'm talking structural engineers, building inspectors and the like, not only the concretors themselves) are not too worried about this - I wonder why Does anyone know if this is "officially" covered anywhere, eg. in the Standards? My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: slabs 88Apr 11, 2010 9:05 am What are strip footings ? I have 2 strip footings 800mm x600mm deep with 8-L12TM top and btm. the 2 strip footings are at the front of the house. In the plan the structural engineer has requested that the strip footings be a intergral part of the plan. Slab was poured on friday the 9th and it rained on saturday, which is a good thing as far as curing goes I was told. Re: slabs 93Apr 21, 2010 9:17 am johnlong - I am not an engineer so it is not for me to comment on which way to go. Soz about that, but better we stick to our day jobs Where you are coming from is where you are going to... my suspicion - some builders, they do usually make 'odd' settings in their site plan / pricing as their standards - being hopeful that first - the initial price is… 9 2444 |
