Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Time Frame from Council Approval to Building 4Jul 06, 2007 1:34 pm thansk for your reponses! Our block is bare, and we are expecting to receive council approval on Monday. A building agreement has not been signed as yet, however, we have paid our initial deposit. We will get our final fixed price tender after the approval i would say to organise our unconditional letter of approval from the bank. I do believe that they need to do a "peg out" etc. So much to think of - I was hoping to be in by chrissy - not so sure i like my chances now! Re: Time Frame from Council Approval to Building 5Jul 06, 2007 2:31 pm Allan - I'm glad I don't need to worry about demolishing a house. My biggest problem (apart from the obvious) is that I need to take some trees down.
Must be a good block if you go and demolish the house! My biggest problem (apart from the obvious) is that I need to take some trees down. Must be a good block if you go and demolish the house! Perry We actually got both - lots of trees + an old house. We spent almost $3,000 to remove the small trees and prune the 2 huge ones (which council don't allow us to remove), then another $10K for demolition. Have a look at my blog to compare between the before and after photos and you can imagine how many trees & plants we removed. The old house wasn't in liveable condition. We could have just renovate the old one, but we don't want to worry about the 30+ years old electric wires & plumbing. And as the property market has been going ok, we decide to give it a try... Cheers Allan http://building-our-first-house.blogspot.com/ Current stage: old house demolished, contract signed, fence ready, waiting for excavation to start...
