I came on to search for PCI and handover information, and stumbled onto this thread... I have now read all 76 pages since last evening (lucky my partner is on a 12 hr shift!!) Im amazed by the turbulent journey you have undergone Froggie, and im glad to hear your mum and dad are with you celebrating your new home in style! Ill bet Holly is off somewhere down the corridor with her tennis ball too! My partner and i are just about to complete our first home, and our jouney has been very straightforward, but i can relate to you in a lot of ways as although we are building together, we currently live just over an hour apart, and he doesnt get to the build very often so 9 time out of ten im the one chasing things up and getting the stressful phone calls for decisions. I usually also work shift work, but have been doing a different position to my usual job so have been working business hours, which makes it really hard to be there and see what i wanna see. We dont have a temporary fence or anything blocking off the windows, and fortunately my tiler usually starts and finishes late, meaning at times i have been able to get in after work. I dont know how you work business hours year round - bring back my shiftowrk! I love your bathroom/ensuite features. I think you did a superb job with your selections! Your build has been very informative - im dying to see my splashback in, and i knew it would be near the end, but ill stop making it one of the first things i look for now that i know yours went in after PCI!! Hehe Congrats on keeping your cool throughout the build, i love it where you sent the email speaking your mind to yourself in the end... i so do that too! Hope all those swear words you made up only come out now when you recall the hard yards you put in to get into your own palace. Pour another JD/s or Champas for me, cos im celebrating with you too!!! ~~~ 2010 has been a whirlwind ~~~ Re: Froggies build - ITS MINE....ALL MINE!!!! 1508Jul 24, 2010 7:33 pm Righto woman-get off that partner's thread and get in here with some photos! Thankfully because I cannot take any days off next week So because I couldn't leave work to get to the builders before they closed at 4.30pm I had to leave it to last thursday. So while the removalists where there packing things up I left my mum and dad at the rental and went for a drive to the builders to pick up the keys....many many keys lol I have heard of most people getting like a house warming gift from their builders and I was curious to see what I might get from mine. Well I can report what my gift was....nothing lol I wasn't terribly surprise...but a little disappointed. The move went as smoothly as can be expected. We had to stay in a hotel on the Thursday night and we were out at the house bright and early on the Friday to meet up with the removalists. My driveway is still NOT finished!!! Because of the rain and the driveway mob being MIA the driveway had not been coloured and sealed. There was a message left on a piece of timber saying if it was dirted we would be charged $300 to clean it again. They had pressure cleaned it the Thursday by the looks, this is after I tell my driveway guy on Monday that I have the removalist etc coming on the friday. I really don't understand why they would do that!! But it really p&*(ed me off!!! Well....because of all the rain we had recieved over the last day or two the surrounding dirt now was a red mud pit!!! We did really well with the removalist, we put down cardboard so they could walk on that....but while we were all inside the plumber and electrician came and parked on the dirt and walked it right over the concrete. I nearly died when I walked out and saw it!!! My heart sank! By 11am the plain concrete driveway was now a terracotta colour and I had 14 men in my house hehehe The heating guys were cute as!!! lol At least I got some good eye candy on the last day By 3pm my furniture was in, my oven, rangehood, dryer, had been delivered and the heating and the hot water was up and running. A very very very productive day!! At one stage I had the removalist, foxtel, tv antenna guy, heating mob, the good guys, electrican and the plumber all here. It was true madness....actually very stressful!! At the time I was panicking the driveway mob would turn up and see the mess!!!! I really have to do my backyard asap!!! My dog is an inside dog while I'm at home and I have the portico slab that has not been sealed too....so poor holly goes outside, her feet get caked in this red clay and she walks it all over the slab The mud is actually starting to hurt her feet I'm going to have to buy gumboots for her lol I got my new lounge and chair delivered today and I'm in love with them!!! I cooked dinner with my new cooker and its awesome!! I can't wait to try out a roast dinner. I'm sorry I don't have any photos yet. The house is such a mess!!! We are all injured and the unpacking and getting things moved is a very slow process. I hope to have kitchen area sorted by Monday night...so I'll post some pics by then Re: Froggies build - ITS MINE....ALL MINE!!!! 1512Jul 24, 2010 9:38 pm Deemaree only a rumour thus far! After spending all that money on a build, to be put through 8 months of stress....to be handed over the keys and the certificates and basically walked out to the door to be told..."good luck, hope you like your new house" and thats it...i was kinda waiting for them to say...oh, we have this for you. But it never happened ibfragalot99 Looking forward to some pics froggie Tomorrow night I'm hoping to have some up....it will be messy though lol dilla For some reason I had it in my head that you were getting the keys on Monday, so I'm super surprised to hear you are settling in to your new house Sooooooooooooooooooooooo happy for your Froggie, you completely deserve to love every minute of it all - especially after the ordeal you've been through It was going to be monday because my work had to change my removal days to the 27th. But at the last might they re-tendered my move and found someone able to do it on the 22nd Thank you so much for the best wishes and following my thread, there are some amazing people on here Re: Froggies build - YAH!!! I'm in my new house!!!! 1520Jul 25, 2010 8:06 am Fan-Tastic Frogsie, everything is already done and useable, that is super fast and excellent organisation!!! Some people wait for hot water and appliances for a week or two!! Did you organise all of that with the builder, or was it the builder dictating the timing? You have phone too? Hope you can wash the slabs a bit ... but I thought they were painted already? I thought they only need to come back for the fixes?? Poor Holly, she must be stressed too ... but the worst for all of you is O-V-E-R !!!! Now you can take it slowly and enjoy!!
