Soil tests and surveys

If I am not getting a builder to build my house who can I get to do the soil test and survey? Does anybody have any idea what they would cost?

We got a soil test done seperately from our builder for $295...a site survey can vary, i think ours was about $400 or $500??? (they sent us the invioce accidently) I think these can vary depending on size, surrounding buildings, etc. And if you need a re-establishment survey where they need to re-do title pegs etc that seems to add to costs.

Look up your local directory or yellow pages for "Geotechnical Engineers".

There are usually quite a few listed - and shop around!

Costs vary, and I've heard anything from $295 up to $1000.
