Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 04, 2009 7:00 pm I have chosen a floor tile which is almost excactly the same as stipple seal laminex. Do I 'have' to have a carpet colour similar?? The carpet I have orignally chosen is much lighter, but a very natural/neautral colour. Im not sure if there are 'rules' with this or if it will look 'wrong' We are thinking floorboards to. so tiles are only in wet areas, but obviously the carpet needs to blend with the floorboards AND the tiles. Not sure if it should be light tile dark carpet, or dark tiles light carpet, or the same ?? Any advice? Thanks Once all this is over with I will be happy for it to just be built Re: should floor tiles and carpet be almost the same colour? 2Nov 04, 2009 7:09 pm Were going to go with a darker/redder timber floor so our rumpus carpet will be lighter in colour but hard wearing.. If I was having lighter tiles Id probaby go with darker carpet and vise versa... Re: should floor tiles and carpet be almost the same colour? 3Nov 04, 2009 7:15 pm makoby i also chose stipple seal for vanities in bathrooms and a very close floor tile. my carpet is alot lighter but is a natural tone which makes it work quite well. my suggestion would be to get samples of each and put them next to eachother including the wall colour. this will give you a better idea if it works together, sometimes the colours appear different when next to eachother or in different light so try to take it to the site and see. must say im happy with the vanities and tiles matching in my place, it works really well. yours sould like it will be fine. Re: should floor tiles and carpet be almost the same colour? 4Nov 04, 2009 7:18 pm We're using creamy coloured tiles and a mid to dark brown carpet. We liked the contrast, but it's a bit simpler for us because we didn't have to match tiles and floorboards! I think if you go with a neutral colour then it should look good. Go with your instincts - in the end you have to be happy to see it everyday! Re: should floor tiles and carpet be almost the same colour? 5Nov 04, 2009 7:36 pm Another one here that has stipple seal cupboards (kitchen) we have chosen kempas floorboards for kitchen floor and dining area and the two loungerooms that come off them the carpet is chocolate. makoby I have chosen a floor tile which is almost excactly the same as stipple seal laminex.
