We just had an offer accepted on an investment property... if that falls through, we may reconsider cameron park. Are you going through Coral Homes? We will only have around 2 metres down the back of the house, but that will be enough for the clothes line I suppose... Yeah to bad you aren't building there to, would have been nice to get to know someone in the neighbourhood considering I am moving there from the central coast/ sydney... Where is the investment property you are looking at? (If I may ask) Re: Builiding with Coral Homes - Hamilton 252 43Feb 05, 2010 11:07 am it is in Charlestown, where we currently live I love living in Newcastle (was from Sydney originally) Sarah 8/9/12 - Deposit 26/11/12 - Council App 21/12/12 - Contract 12/2/13 - Site Scrape 15/3 - Piers 21/3 - Slab 17/4 - Frame 14/5 - Roof 30/5 - Bricks 25/6 - Gyprock Building variation of the Muscat Re: Builiding with Coral Homes - Hamilton 252 44Feb 05, 2010 6:39 pm That's great... was driving around Newcastle today, as the land is now all registered and needed to see the solicitor (you may have noticed the woman driving around being lost in every street of Newcastle) and on my way home dropped in to see the land, and the electricity is on soo excited (I know a bit premature but hey, can't complain)... Hope your investment property goes through for you. That must be very exciting for you?? Re: Builiding with Coral Homes - Hamilton 252 45Oct 25, 2010 6:56 pm Hi there! I know this post is 8 mtgs old but I was wondering what happens to your $1600 since you decided not to build. We are looking at a new coral designs for acreages and are quite worried about our site costs blowing out as we are on h class soil. Have had quotes from other builders for around the 50-55k mark, and that's all we are budgeting for. Am scared to hand over the $1600 and then they tell me some scary total and we won't be able to afford it! Re: Builiding with Coral Homes - Hamilton 252 46Oct 25, 2010 8:54 pm We've just paid the $1,600 deposit with Coral and have been advised that if we decide to build with them that will come off the purchase price, if we don't, we've got soil and contour reports for our $1,600. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Builiding with Coral Homes - Hamilton 252 47Nov 03, 2010 9:27 am Hi, We never went ahead and basically you lose the $1600 But our friend who works for another building company said that it is worth contacting the consultant and seeing if we were entitled to a refund (as we never got the final plans drawn or detailed quote ). We pulled the plug at the first version of quote as the contours didn't allow us to go with the plan we liked. So if they haven't gone through the whole process, you can assume there is money allocated for tasks that won't be required. We did chase this up and our consultant said we wouldn't be entitled to anything but he would chase it up with head office. A month later we received a cheque for jut under $300 - so is worth a call I guess. Good luck PS - Aussie Dutchy - we bought the investment property and have had it renovated and rented out for 6 months, has all gone well 8/9/12 - Deposit 26/11/12 - Council App 21/12/12 - Contract 12/2/13 - Site Scrape 15/3 - Piers 21/3 - Slab 17/4 - Frame 14/5 - Roof 30/5 - Bricks 25/6 - Gyprock Building variation of the Muscat Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13771 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4343 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74702 |
