Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Long Island Homes 3Nov 04, 2009 4:16 pm They are a new builder from what I can tell, the displays look nice though! Re: Long Island Homes 4Nov 04, 2009 4:31 pm Pretty sure they're a new company. We had some dealings with them earlier this year (if I'm thinking of the same people). I'm trying to remember another company that went bust (lots of issues with the big boss ripping off clients... never finishing jobs but taking all the cash...). Quite a few people from this company that went bust set off on their own and set up Long Island. (Geez I hope I'm right, let me go through our paperwork...) Re: Long Island Homes 5Nov 04, 2009 4:48 pm So the original company was Landmark Homes (landmark constructions) if you're persistant and keep googling, you'll come accross all the dirty details of the business coming to and end. Ok, yep this is definately them. http://www.longislandhomes.com.au/index/index/page/home We were originally looking at a house design through a small builder (Landmark Homes). Just as we'd picked the design and were ready to go to the next step, we got a call that they'd basically gone bust. The guy we were dealing with (PM me if you want his details) left the company, along with a few others, and went about starting up Long Island. Unfortunately Long Island didn't offer a plan similar to what we originally wanted, so we went elsewhere. However, we kept the broker (for a while) that is affiliated with Long Island. I'm not sure if this is still the case. However we gave him the flick during our loan process as he was unprofessional, and then in the end aggressive to find out we'd flicked him and decided to go direct to the bank. (again PM me if you want details). Long Island itself - if they've broken away from this other guy from Landmark who was ripping off clients, then they should be ok... but be weary, they're just starting out. Our initial dealings with them, we found they didn't return phone calls, another reason we walked. Re: Long Island Homes 6Nov 05, 2009 12:08 pm Just wondering how did you find the links between them? If you can PM me the broker's name, that'd be good. Kinda wary as well as we couldn't find any information/feedbacks regarding them. Anyone has built with them yet? Re: Long Island Homes 10Nov 05, 2009 8:58 pm Why not ask the builder for the name of someone who has built with them or a few people - see if they will supply. Re: Long Island Homes 11Nov 16, 2009 9:09 pm I've decided to go with Long Island Homes. Intially was going with Carlisle but decided not to now. Going to build the Sansara 300. Pricing looks OK. Upgrades cost lesser than what CH has offered so far. Will be just going for the 2nd appoinment in a fortnight. Will update you guys on the process & stuff! Re: Long Island Homes 13Dec 03, 2009 9:37 am Hi Badcliq. Can you pls tell me where abouts you building? Also who your broker was? (Anne? or you dealt with Craig?) I could never find any references for them, therefore I decided not to build with them. However, my brother in law is considering to build with them and therefore I have started my search yet again... You happy with price, quality so far? Lovely choice, I love the Sansara 30 sq badcliq I've decided to go with Long Island Homes. Intially was going with Carlisle but decided not to now. Going to build the Sansara 300. Pricing looks OK. Re: Long Island Homes 14Dec 03, 2009 6:45 pm I'm dealing with Craig directly. Building in Arndell Estate, Truganina. Maybe he's a really busy man. Communication & meeting deadline is just average and not as good as i expect. Maybe I'm expecting too much? Still at initial stages at the moment. Was told the drawings are done, need to go and have a look at it soon. Re: Long Island Homes 15Dec 04, 2009 12:47 pm Thanks for your quick reply. I heard he has a lot of assignments on. Infact the very house next to mine is also being constructed by them, and I found another one across the road that also has their board..my BIL is meeting them again this weekend, lets see how we go. Good luck with your build. I hope everythign goes fine for you If you come across anything good or bad, do let me know as it will be a big help to me either way.. I just got my drawings and realised my building is cut short by about 50cm or so. I guess to fit my block. Thinking to change the master suite floorplans a bit as well. Haven't spoke to CD yet. Maybe this Monday. Re: Long Island Homes 17Dec 07, 2009 9:46 am Well, the Consultant is now trying to steer us towards Glenvill homes as he says Long Island too busy to build in time.. Not sure, what we would be doing, but he has given us a super cheap price for a 28sq home- turn key with Glenvill which is too good to be true.. Re: Long Island Homes 18Dec 07, 2009 8:20 pm I went to LIH today to follow up on a few things. Floor plan had minor change without extra charge. Happy with that! He's a good man Also, done draft for my eletrical plans. I'm still quite content and looking forward for next meeting, which is probably a week or so away. Are you saying the sales consultant in LIH is steering you guys to Glenvill Homes? That's strange. Are the companies related? LIH is getting pretty busy! Re: Long Island Homes 19Dec 08, 2009 10:33 am Yeah, this one has a tie up with 3-4 builders and though initially we met him regarding LIH, he showed as a 28 SQ Glenvill house over the weekend and will give us a turn key package..so basically driveway, landscaping, blinds, alfresco, pathway, site cost etc all included. I am already buliding my own home with Places homes and roughly they are turning to be around 20K cheaper that what I am paying for my 28sq home with THEM. badcliq I went to LIH today to follow up on a few things. Just minor adjustments needed. Quite happy with the work. Just out of curiosity, which banks do you guys go to for construction loans? I haven't got mine preapproved yet.
