Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 03, 2009 9:35 pm Hello All, First time builder here. we have purchased a block in Yanchep and now are going thru the process of choosing a builder. We are tossing up between the city beach from Scott park homes or a promo home from red ink or going with aveling homes ( they are cheaper). I am unable to find any information/reviews about Aveling tho. Has anybody had or know any one who has used them to build a house? Any help is much appreciated..thanks Re: Aveling homes 2Jan 28, 2010 2:49 pm My partner and I have decided to go with Aveling Homes, being the Banksia Grove display home in Banksia Grove, obviously!!! They are a joint venture between one of the Zorzi Brothers and Michael Aveling. Google Zorzi builders if you are unsure. Very happy with them so far, been very open as what we don't and do get included with the package. Bring on the tiltes being issued in Banksia Grove in June. Can't do much else other than prestart till then!! ---- Building in Banksia Grove We have keys - 31st March 2011 Re: Aveling homes 3Jan 28, 2010 3:12 pm A friend of mine is building their first home through Aveling Homes. From what he has told me so far, there were a few issues with the plans and a few delays (misplaced paperwork, slab delayed more than a month, etc.) but he has been happy with it so faf. Can't comment on construction as he has only just got his bricks delievered (another delay). The only thing I would say is that if you are to choose Aveling Homes, read everything you are getting as standard, and keep on their tail as they aren't very quick at responding to questions or queries (his experience). Good luck! I know friends that have been with the ABN group and have been uterly disappointed with the build, and some that have been over the moon with the build. I don't expect it to be a completely fault free exercise. Having said that I have found Aveling to be quite good so far!. ---- Building in Banksia Grove We have keys - 31st March 2011 Re: Aveling homes 6Nov 13, 2010 11:45 am I personally love that house, but I am biased as I am building the Banksia Grove display Sales person out there is good! ---- Building in Banksia Grove We have keys - 31st March 2011 Re: Aveling homes 7Nov 13, 2010 6:11 pm Mike Aveling is really experienced (was the construction manager at Homebuyers centre for a long time - they're part of the ABN group) and Zorzi is also a shareholder. I often recommend them. Re: Aveling homes 8Nov 17, 2010 3:44 pm Had the chat with the sales person and he was very nice and understood our needs. Made a few changes including trying to add in a four car garage! He said he'll give us a price list within three days. Called us on the third day and said he was finish but the city of stirling had a few other prices that need to be added on and so we gotta go see him again about it Re: Aveling homes 10Sep 11, 2013 7:17 pm Glad to see some good reviews about Aveling. Would anyone be able to comment on the quality of the finished product and if any problems were found regarding the building materials or workmanship ? I know that building with any company can just be luck-of-the-draw ! Aveling are offering a much better price than Dales & Summit for exactly the same inclusions (and yes, a bonus dishwasher) and I consider them to be of comparable quality but I do not know anyone who has had experience with them. Re: Aveling homes 11Jun 10, 2014 3:30 pm Aveling .... not a fan!! Our design rep in the beginning was awesome, couldn't do more for us. But as soon as he handed us over to the back office team, that's when things started going all wrong. Advertised specials became non-existent then were put back in for free. Price variations for work that was quoted needed to be added in which happened to be the same price as the free throw in. Later found that this work could be done for $4k less and with a far superior product. As we were at the pre-build contract stage, we got a second opinion from C0llier Homes and found that they could do it all for the same price but through to turn key. So we pulled out and went with them. In the time it took to get the cancellation bill for pulling out "pre-build contract" - we got our home redesigned and I have to say it is absolutely amazing!! Pre-contract within the week and 2 weeks later the build contract was ready for signing. Our titles were issues last month and finance is in it's final stages so we are actually holding our new builder up now. Our new Rep continues to check in on us even through we've already signed the Build contract. We told her that we got a cancellation invoice for $4k?? She was as gobb smacked as we were but managed to get us a $4k credit to cover the out-of-pocket expense without even asking for it. Now that's the foundation of a great relationship Funny enough, the only time Aveling was on time was when they sent me the reminder txt that the $4k balance was due today otherwise they would refer onto collection. Really??? Oh well, $4k to get out of the frying pan now and into bed with C0llier is money well spent in my book!! Re: Aveling homes 12Jun 10, 2014 5:13 pm Friends of ours building with them. Don't think they would recommend at this stage. Some pretty terrible things have happened during their build ie: slab totally wrong. There are threads on here about aveling. We looked at them and were impressed with the initial stages and inclusions. Re: Aveling homes 13Jun 11, 2014 10:09 am We are building with Aveling. We haven't had any issues with them yet, but we haven't actually started to build. Our slab should hopefully go down next week. They have been slow with the paperwork. We signed up 31 Oct 2013 and we are only at construction now. But they have been in contact at least once a week. Every person we have dealt with has been extrememly helpful, they have answered all our queries and dealt with all our changes/issues etc. We hope our build goes as smooth as the paperwork side of things, just a little faster tho!
