Re: Not All Castles Are Alike!! PICS of the story so far... 2Nov 03, 2009 9:21 pm Hiya Pix, Looking good so far. Can't wait to see the progress. btw, that looks like a big block of land. It looks like a trampoline down the back. Or is that in the neighbours’ yard? Re: Not All Castles Are Alike!! PICS of the story so far... 4Nov 04, 2009 9:48 am Thanks Jess and Rubber-Noggin, We are very fortunate to have 1200 sq m. And yes, it's our trampoline.. which we're hoping the builders wont use at lunchtimes!! The block actually goes beyond the treeline you can see. A little beyond that is a rock shelf my nearly 7-year-old twin girls refer to as the 'fairy garden' because it's so shady and magical Pix Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. PICS of the story so far... 8Nov 11, 2009 8:45 pm Hi Pixelated, We are planning to go with Allcastle The Prestige (modified) in Lidcombe, Sydney area too. We just got the quotation tender and already 100k over the basic price Can you tell us how you with Allcastle? What kind of dramas you have experienced? Anything we need to be aware? Do we really need to sign the contract with them within 14 days and did you try to negotiate with them at all? Many thanks, dootbear Re: Not All Castles Are Alike!! PICS of the story so far... 10Nov 11, 2009 10:10 pm Ooh I'm envious of your big block! We've got about 800 I think, I can never remember... It looks like you're off to a great start, keep the photos coming!! Re: Not All Castles Are Alike!! PICS of the story so far... 11Nov 12, 2009 10:23 am Thanks Rowena, dootbear and Mikaela We have gone waaaaaay over the base price...LOL My advice when dealing with any builder (and I'm sure everyone on this forum would agree) is to get *EVERYTHING* in writing. Check, double-check, triple-check and then check *EVERYTHING* in the tender, the drawings, and the specification/selection sheet again. I simply can't remember how many times we would ask for 'x' to be changed...and rather than that correction being made, 'a', 'b' and 'c' would be done instead!! I can't speak highly enough of the architect at Allcastle, "S" and so far our site supervisor "S" and our Customer Service Rep, "E" have been very helpful Hope this helps. Dootbear -- if you have any specific questions, PM me. Pix Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. Re: Not All Castles Are Alike!! Updated Pics Of The Frame 14 Nov 14Nov 14, 2009 8:04 am Hi All, I have more pics of the frame, which is nearly finished. Some of the bricks have been delivered but the sand was supposed to be delivered yesterday as bricking was to commence today but alas...well the chippies haven't finished the frame, the windows are not in and so there won't be any bricking just yet! Anyway...here are some progress photos of the frame so far: The Ground Floor frame (with all the extra steel to support the large open plan area at the rear): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The First Floor: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Roof Trusses on: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ More pics next week (hopefully) when the windows go in the the bricking finally begins Pix Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. Updated Pics Of the Frame 14 Nov 16Nov 17, 2009 11:34 am This falls under the category of "Things Are Going Soooo Smoothly...Something Dreadful Must Be About To Happen" !!! Our SS just called with an update of progress and a heads-up of what to expect over the next few weeks. The Chippies are just about finished with the frame (2 days more work tweaking minor things)...the Plumber arrives tomorrow to rough-in...and the Brickies are slaving away with the brickwork and should be finished in 4 weeks, weather permitting. "S" thought the roof might even be on by Xmas...and you know now that I've said that it won't happen! LOL Ever the optimist...Pix Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. Re: Not All Castles Are Alike!! Updated Pics Of the Frame 14 Nov 18Nov 17, 2009 1:00 pm Pix, loving all your decisions so far. Things are progressing brilliantly. I've touched some wood (so now things should continue progress brilliantly for you too). Looking forward to seeing floor plans as well when you get the chance.
