Dec 7!! 41Dec 09, 2009 11:57 am Hahahahaha Well crossing fingers and even praying hasn't worked cos when I went past this morning, after school drop off, the scaffolding guys were nowhere to be seen...hmmmmmmm. The brickies have done as much as they can without scaffolding and I guess work stops now until they turn up and put it in place. What can we do??? Dec 9th!! 45Dec 09, 2009 8:10 pm Yay...you finally have your scaffolding now tell them brickies to hurry up & finish those bricks!! Have you been upstairs yet? I have had a look at ours once with the builder but it was mainly to see our view(opposite a golf course).DH has been up a couple of times but I don't feel real safe going up the ladder! Re: Not All Castles Are Alike...MORE NEW PHOTOS!! Dec 9th!! 47Dec 10, 2009 8:22 pm I got hold of one pic of the 1st floor from DH. This is largely because we have very different photography styles...he takes close ups of where the plumbing is etc etc...and I tend to take wide shots Anyway -- this is taken adjacent to the stairs, looking toward the back of the house. Re: Not All Castles Are Alike...MORE NEW PHOTOS!! Dec 9th!! 48Dec 10, 2009 9:21 pm Nice shot of the 1st floor...your bedroom looks like a good size. I might have to send DH up that ladder to take some shots of our 1st floor now. Well that's a pretty tight schedule for the next 2 weeks but it is possible as long as it doesn't rain! So i will do the fingers crossed & praying for you again...hey it worked with the scaffolding Loretta Built The Jenmark with Cavalier Homes Macarthur. http://camdenacres.blogspot.com/ Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17870 We are in - front landscaping begins Re: Not All Castles Are Alike...MORE NEW PHOTOS!! Dec 9th!! 49Dec 10, 2009 9:48 pm Thx Loretta Yes, the main bedroom is quite big -- about one-third of the first floor!! It's part dressing room, part retreat, and we have a roomy ensuite. I love my kids but I really need a chillout space and that's what we are trying to create. And I agree with you re the schedule. Isn't it funny how much attention we all pay to the weather reports when we're building!!! As much as we'd like them to get it done, we don't want them to rush the roof so if we have to wait until January to have it done properly then obviously we will. Dec 9th!! 51Dec 11, 2009 8:11 pm WOW, PIX - I've just re-caught back up on your thread. Inside photos and all. Love the size of your stacker doors overlooking your yard. Once you build that platform, it will be awesome. Your kitchen also looks huge too. You should have plenty of storage space. And yes your bedroom, as Loretta mentioned is large too. Ensuite, plus retreat, how cool is that. A real chillout zone! You mentioned your roof is scheduled for the 22nd to 24th - that's fantastic that your tradies will work on Christmas Eve. So many places seem to shut up that day earlier (including our builder). You must be pleased now with how things are coming along, and the communication of letting you know when things are scheduled in for. Both you and Loretta need to be brave and go upstairs. The first time climbing the ladder is the hardest, after that is becomes less scary each time (oh, unless a car pulls up and the guy inside watches you walking around on the scaffolding and you know you really shouldn't be up there, and then drives off as you get down - oops.. I think we were busted) Looking forward to more pics. Thank you TamDaz I'm convinced the size of the house (yes it is big...lol) has come about because of the little dogbox we lived in for three L O N G years before the knockdown!! But I keep reading everyone's dread of all the cleaning involved with a big home so that looms large...eeeeek. Oh and I'll try to be brave and try the ladder..hehe The view from the 1st floor is too strong to resist Pix Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. It's just the floors, the rest takes no longer than our old house. One kitchen, two bathrooms, a bit of dusting (if I can be bothered). Vacuuming and mopping can take a bit of time - just train your kids or hire a cleaner. A parents' retreat should be compulsory in all family homes. I lock myself in now and then with my laptop, some DVDs, a book or some magazines and only come out in search of more coffee. Or wine. Sometimes I even let my husband in. Dec 9th!! 55Dec 21, 2009 11:21 am Yay!!! The brickwork is finished!!! The guttering and fascia plus associated fixings were delivered today ready for the roofing guys to make a start tomorrow (Tuesday). Our SS is confident the roof will be on before Xmas, providing the weather holds. On the downside, my computer has died (do I hear a collective "awwwww"?) so no photos to share for the time being until I get the powerful PC back. In the meantime, I'm peddling away madly on the twins' pc trying to keep it running Pix Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. Oh no you poor thing not having a computer do you have to fight your children for use of their one?? Hope you get it back soon so we can see those pics!! Loretta Hmmmm -- little work on the site today The guttering and fascia, which was delivered yesterday, is still sitting on the Council nature strip (nobody bothered to even put it inside the gate) and the roof sarking has just been chucked over the temporary fencing and is sitting in giant plastic bags. DH saw a scaffolding guy there this morning and he added to what was already there in preparation for the roofing. The SS assured us the guttering and fascia would be completed today, however, with nobody on site and all the materials (incl lots of fixing bits and pieces in cardboard boxes) just sitting on the nature strip, I have little confidence the roof will be on before Xmas *shrug* Oh well. I suppose if somebody steals the materials it's @llcastle's problem, however, it will cause us a delay because it will have to be re-ordered and re-delivered. On the plus side, they surely can't ask for a progress payment for the roof without it being substantially complete...or can they??? As for the computer, I hijacked the girls computer!! Bad, bad mother!!! Pix Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. Re: Not All Castles Are Alike...Bricking is finished WOO HOO!! 58Dec 22, 2009 6:01 pm That's disappointing Pix...I think all the tradies are flat out atm.Spoke to our builder yesterday & he confirmed this as he is hoping to get our bottom roof finished before Christmas. Yet we have not had ANY work done since last Wednesday. I phoned the CSA yesterday who said lock up will now not occur until after the New Year. So one whole week without any action, and now, there won't be anything until mid Jan as they will all start their official Christmas Break today. When I commented about vandalism over the Christmas break, I was told the worst they could do was smash windows. Hopefully nothing happens though. Hopefully for you, your materials aren't stolen. More time to try and save money (Have to look on the bright side) Blog:http://tamdaz-themajestic.blogspot.com The Majestic - Henley - Adelaide Thread:https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20635 Day 200 23-4-10 Re: Not All Castles Are Alike...Bricking is finished WOO HOO!! 60Dec 23, 2009 10:56 am Thanks for the support Loretta and Tamdaz I just got off the phone with the SS who knew *nothing* about the materials being left on the nature strip. He told me he'd spoken to the contractors today and the guttering and fascia was finished. Ermmmm...NO IT'S NOT!!!! All the materials are still on the street and have been since Monday. I asked him if he was ok with leaving it all there over Christmas and I think he was a bit shocked. DH went past this morning (early) and said it was all still untouched and nothing had been done. I'll drive by soon-ish to double check because SS seems to be under the impression it's all done. Oh and needless to say the roof will NOT be on before Xmas. Doesn't really bother me but I would have liked to have been in the loop and have been told. It's now scheduled to go on mid January.
