Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Not All Castles Are Alike...Bricking is finished WOO HOO!! 61Dec 23, 2009 10:20 pm These builders aren't very good with the updates that's for sure!!! Hope you at least get the gutters & fascia put on or it gets moved to a secure spot! Yes that's the plus side of not getting to lock up by Christmas...no big progress payment! Hope you have a great Christmas Pix, Loretta Built The Jenmark with Cavalier Homes Macarthur. http://camdenacres.blogspot.com/ Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17870 We are in - front landscaping begins Re: Not All Castles Are Alike...Bricking is finished WOO HOO!! 62Dec 29, 2009 12:28 pm Well the guttering and fascia was moved onto the site last Xmas Eve at least but of course it's not finished and I didn't think it would be. I live in the real world and didn't for a moment think it would all get done *after* midday on Xmas eve, despite what the SS said to me...and I quote: "It will be moved and the guttering and fascia will be completed 100% guaranteed. I've spoken to the installer and he will be there and it will be done." LOL Gotta laugh, Pix PS: DH and I have a bet that the contracter is there today (sunny day in Sydney for a change) I'm betting no (ever the optimist!!) and he's betting yes. Now we just need to decide what we are betting for...hmmmmmm Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. Re: Not All Castles Are Alike...Bricking is finished WOO HOO!! 63Dec 29, 2009 3:18 pm At least it's in a secure spot now Pix...sounds like famous last words from your SS! Well I have seen tradies working on a house that's getting built near us today so it's possible that the contractor might be at your place today. I can imagine that's one bet you wouldn't mind losing! No sign of the contracter (who'd already told the builder the guttering and fascia was completed). I have one thing to say: Liar, liar pants on fire!! Hopefully he'll turn up next week. If not, it will undoubtedly lead to more delays with the roof cos those guys are booked in for early Jan. *shrug* Who knows????? <---- I seem to ask that a lot! Just looking at your thread, what mortar colour did you choose, is it PGH mortar? Good Luck with the rest of the house its looking great so far! BubblePop Re: Not All Castles Are Alike...Bricking is finished WOO HOO!! 66Jan 06, 2010 12:52 am Hi Bubblepop, Sorry to take soooo long getting back to you. It's been ages since I even looked at my own thread since nothing is happening on the site! The mortar colour is off-white and there are packets of it still laying around the site but I don't know the brand. The render colour is Taubman's 1/2 strength China White Pix Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The first floor bricks were cleaned today but I don't think a photo would do it justice. I will post more pics when the scaffolding comes down in a week or so and when the ground floor bricks are cleaned. Next week....eaves installed and painted, more brick cleaning and scaffolding removed. The rendering of the facade was supposed to happen over the Xmas break and now even the SS is not sure when this is happening. Just try to image those commons and the bricks on the balcony rendered and painted in one of the millions of shade of white available and sent to confuse us all! I've completely forgotten the name of the colour!! Til next time...Pix Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. Re: Not All Castles Are Alike...We've Got A Roof PHOTO FEST!!! 68Jan 16, 2010 8:52 am Gorgeous Pix! You seem like you are at the same stage as me in that we are pleased work is still progressing, but wanting that scaffolding down to get decent photos. All good things come to those who wait I guess. I'm looking forward to seeing your render done. The brown brick and 'shade of white' render will really compliment each other. Sounds like it is all progressing well now. I bet you were a bit sad to see the old girl torn down, but your new baby is looking fantastic. It's huge! Things look like they're progressing at a cracking pace too, do you guys have any idea of when handover might be? Re: Not All Castles Are Alike...We've Got A Roof PHOTO FEST!!! 71Jan 16, 2010 1:36 pm Hi all It may be that there's a bit of colour distortion in my photos because our bricks are dark blue, TamDaz I can't wait for the commons to be rendered either, JohhnyD but of course that will remain grey and unpainted for an eternity!! The house is enormous, Vunderful, but with twin 7yo girls I am really beginning to panic about the cleaning!!! I seem to spend sooooo much time picking up and cleaning up after them. I can't count the number of times I do this everyday and then tell them to do it & I too can't wait for the scaffolding to come down. Is this bad and dreadfully selfish (???) but I want all the intermittent showers to stop for just a bit so they can just finish the exterior. I'll bet those of you with gardens are cursing me now!! My girls want to know their names please. Are they from the same litter? How long have you had them? Are they cheeky? Pix hehehehe Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. Re: Not All Castles Are Alike...We've Got A Roof PHOTO FEST!!! 75Jan 16, 2010 9:02 pm Ya they're brother and sister, the ginger and white one is a girl kitty called Puff (real name is Serephine, but she's Puff to us in everyday language!), and the black and white one is a boy named Columbo (he was very adventurous when he was a kitten, so we named him after Christopher Columbus ). Their mum and 3 brothers were abandoned (side note: everyone PLEASE desex your cats, it's heartbreaking to see how many unwanted kittens are dumped every year ) and the Cat Haven took them in. As there were too many cats and kittens abandoned there I was contacted as a foster carer to look after them until they were big enough to go to new homes. Obviously, I had a bit of trouble letting go of 2 of them They were 4 weeks old when they came to me with their mum, and at 14 weeks Puff and Columbo waved good bye to mum and their brothers as they embarked upon the journey to their new homes. As a huge co-incidence, I came across my other little favourite from the litter at the Cat Haven as his new family (with KIDDIES! What a lucky kitty ) had his desex operation booked on the same day as me! It was so good seeing how big he'd gotten haha. Quite sadly I have a facebook album for them, with heaps more pictures if your girls are interested http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2 ... e0ebec94d6 THAT is what happens when you only have cats, not kids! We just signed with Allcastle homes last week and can't wait to have ours started. Did you go to each of their supplier and pick the colors? this is the bit that we are getting a bit frustrated as no one is advising us what goes well with what we are picking. we are just praying that what we like will go together hahahaha. Can't wait to see some more photos. keep em coming.. btw, does it usually takes 8 months before the hand over? that's what AllC told us.
