Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 03, 2009 4:22 pm Well we have now been in for close on two weeks, albeit with no internet which is probably the only frustration however we have just been forwarded an invoice for rock breaking dated back to July 09. In one way I feel like not paying for it as it's pretty much after the fact (deal is done) and bad luck they didnt forward to us earlier but on the other hand they did state there could be "possible costs" for rock breaking, although we should have rec'd the costs there and then. It's an honest mistake in admin on their behalf for not forwarding the cost to us, but should i say too bad? Because I didnt receive the invoice earlier, we assumed all was well. What to do? I don't like leaving things undone so maybe it's now our tough luck and just pay it. Yes of course you would. It took them 4 months to send it, I would take 4 months to pay it. Re: Invoice sent to us after handover ??? 4Nov 03, 2009 4:35 pm Once you have your handover you do not expect surprises like this but as I stated, I don't like leaving things undone. But in similar style if you purchased a nice new car and then 3 months later you receive an invoice from the 3rd party detailer for leather protection, you too would be annoyed. Re: Invoice sent to us after handover ??? 6Nov 03, 2009 4:45 pm I think I would pay it for a number of reasons. You were forwarned that there could be cost for rock, so the invoice itslef is not a surprise (just the timing). You acknowledge that the work was done. You also acknowledge that this is the result of an admin oversight, not some type of dodginess on the builder's behalf. If you fight it, there is a possibility that someone could lose their job or be penalised because of an honest mistake. Technically, I'm sure you don't have to pay it. And if it was some out of the blue, unforseen, never discussed costing it would be a different story. But in this case, with the circumstances you describe, I would pay it. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Hi, I am approaching end of the build. My final invoice will be given to me soon to pay.
