Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 29, 2009 4:44 pm Hi all, Just curious more than anything, just wondering who here started their build around the same time as me, (1st week of July) and what stage you are all up to??? Let's chat! We are on Day 113 and carpets/floorboards are being installed on Wednesday, they have painting to finish and electrical and plumbing work to finish. So where are you up to and how has it been so far??? Building Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=13002 Site start: 8th July 2009 Handover: 11/12/2009! 5 months total build time. 40 sqs of luxuary...Bliss! Air conditioning to be done tomorrow, kitchen finished today, plumbing and electrical to be finalised next week, timber flooring and carpet to be laid next week. At this stage we are looking at moving in by the 15th November. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Who else here, started their build in July 2009? 4Oct 29, 2009 5:09 pm Started, maybe 3rd week of July and we are having the walk through with the builder/agents next week. The house is done. Looks good and there's some extra bits in there we didn't ask for but wanted. I'm keeping my mouth shut! I just can't believe that it has been 3, to 3 and a half, months and they are done. I'm gobsmacked! Re: Who else here, started their build in July 2009? 8Oct 29, 2009 5:37 pm We had slab down in the last week of July and now have 3 weeks to go til practial completion Harrisdale backyard finally done! Re: Who else here, started their build in July 2009? 9Oct 29, 2009 5:39 pm We started July 21st. Painting inside finished, garage door on today, only external painting, electrical fit out and tiling and basin/toilet/handle install. And heating. Told 3-4 weeks then inspections Harribeka Re: Who else here, started their build in July 2009? 10Oct 29, 2009 5:47 pm Ours didnt exactly start in July, our trenches were dug at the end of June (27/06/09), so, very close the same time.
Our timber floors are in, and as of today, sanded and first coat. Kitchen (rangehood to finish installing), plumbing and tiling is done. The vanities, toilets and tub are in, and the electricals are effectively done, we're installing our own dining area light after we get a table in there and the 3 pendant lights over the island need to be done. Carpets, driveway, some stairs and finishing of the alfresco (celing and decking) in the back of the house need to be finished and a few other minor details that I can't think of off the top of my head need to be done still. They are estimating we "should" be in by Mid-November. Edit: Painting is done too Rendering needs to be done on the lower half of the house Re: Who else here, started their build in July 2009? 12Oct 29, 2009 7:00 pm Oh awsome everyone! We are all very close to finishing, I should have asked for sizes too, coz this makes a huge difference. So how big is it? We are all very close to finishing, I should have asked for sizes too, coz this makes a huge difference. So how big is it? A very important comparison point I suppose... 281 sqm Re: Who else here, started their build in July 2009? 16Oct 29, 2009 7:07 pm Ours started right at the end of July and we are getting close to lock up, bricks are about 50% done and roof has just been completed. We did have a 6 week delay while our slab footings were corrected, so we are a bit behind. (25sq single storey) Re: Who else here, started their build in July 2009? 17Oct 29, 2009 8:48 pm 17th of july site start, single storey 26sq. Just waiting on driveway, everything else is done. Builders QA walks through tommorrow our PCI should be next week. Re: Who else here, started their build in July 2009? 18Oct 29, 2009 8:51 pm We started 3rd week of July, having final walkthrough next Friday. ours is 30sq single storey Built with Bentley homes in Doreen All moved in Dec 2009 Now for the garden! Our stuff so far viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16532 Re: Who else here, started their build in July 2009? 19Oct 29, 2009 8:58 pm Size is one measure, the builder is another. At the school I work in, it took Q Build a week to remove, put in new mounts and replace a 20ft section of gutter. On my house, it took them half a day to do the gutter and fascia for the whole house! And this is why Q Build have such a great reputation. On that same guttering job in a different section, they replaced a 6 metre section of rusted guttering and left the next 6 metres of rusted guttering in place, then replaced some more further along the same building that was ok! What the ...? Sorry to be OT, I couldn't help it. My house, 210m2 roughly. Re: Who else here, started their build in July 2009? 20Oct 30, 2009 11:39 am Our build started with site cut on 1st July, single story, not sure how many squares now, poss 30/32??!! Anyway, painting internal and external completed. Tiling being done as we speak although short delay on our floor tiles but hopefully they are in now. Final carpentry to be completed ie wardrobe fit out, shelves in pantry, concrete to drive way and alresco still to be done, final plumbing to be completed and bench tops. Again delay on benchtops, have had to change to new supplier as the ones we chose still need to arrive from Spain!! how much longer, how much loner............... please hurry up lol A survey must’ve completed by a certified surveyor. This form part of every DA requirement 3 223465 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17198 thank you! do we need to get this or our builder before we commence new build on the block? 2 10261 |
