Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 29, 2009 6:55 am Hello, I am thinking of asking my builder the cost of upgrading from standard laminate to ceaser stone bench tops. Since I have asked for quotes on so many things and not gone ahead with about 50% of them I though I would save myself the embarrassment if it is ridiculous. So how much did you pay - it doesnt matter about the bench size as I just want a rough idea. Kel Building in Mooroolbark! I didnt really find the exact price, as my kitchen place added everything in, like overhead cupboards, and pot drawers, and 2 pak, and a microwave tower, and my builder refused to seperate it all out. Re: Ceaser Stone Bench Tops, How much extra did you pay Help pls 4Oct 29, 2009 7:53 am PieMan Hi My upgrade to ceaser stone was $2400 for 40mm, or $2000 for 20mm That was only for the kitchen with a 3m bench and 2 x 1m benches Pieman Gee thats cheap my ensuite vanity was $1500. I think that was approx 2 meters long. Re: Ceaser Stone Bench Tops, How much extra did you pay Help pls 5Oct 29, 2009 8:28 am Hi, we had 20mm stone included as standard but we upgraded to 40mm @ $1350. That's for a 3 metre island bench, a 1 metre bench and a 2 metre bench. Not sure how much the 20mm is on its own. Re: Ceaser Stone Bench Tops, How much extra did you pay Help pls 6Oct 29, 2009 9:06 am You should probably factor in about $800 per metre for engineered stone. Then the builder will "subtract" the cost of the standard inclusion (laminate benchtops). Re: Ceaser Stone Bench Tops, How much extra did you pay Help pls 7Oct 29, 2009 9:17 am I think we paid about $2k extra for our 20mm benches, 1x island bench 2.5m long and 1x bench against wall 2.5m long. It was part of a promo deal though. Caz & Co ALL MOVED IN!! Now comes all the hard work-decorating.... Re: Ceaser Stone Bench Tops, How much extra did you pay Help pls 9Oct 29, 2009 12:25 pm mine was $2600.00 approx - that is for 20mm, 1 bench 2.6m long (with sink) and 1 lots of 2.6 (with 600mm stove top). 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Ceaser Stone Bench Tops, How much extra did you pay Help pls 10Oct 29, 2009 12:43 pm 5000 for the kitchen to upgrade to caesar stone. It is a large kitchen though. Getting Granite though, works out alot cheaper Re: Ceaser Stone Bench Tops, How much extra did you pay Help pls 11Oct 29, 2009 1:25 pm Looks like i didnt get a good deal $4300 20mm pencil edge Sink bench 3.3m x 0.9m Stove bench 3.5m x 0.6m Building the Mayfair with Celebration homes Slab down 14-OCT-09 Bricks started 05-NOV-09 Plate high 15-DEC-09 Roof started 15-DEC-09 Roof finished 19-JAN-10 Lock up 23-FEB-10 Re: Ceaser Stone Bench Tops, How much extra did you pay Help pls 13Oct 30, 2009 12:26 pm Thanks guys.... I still might ask my builder for a quote I will be happy with the standard 20mm with edging on it. Hopefully less than 2k otherwise it is standard laminate Building in Mooroolbark! Re: Ceaser Stone Bench Tops, How much extra did you pay Help pls 16Oct 30, 2009 8:37 pm My experience to date is builders are adding a minimum of 25% on top of anything and sometimes up to 100% of they think they can get away with it.. Going through the process now and for what it is worth I had gloss laminex in a new house built in 2001. When I sold that place in 2001 the laminex still looked like new.... Its hard sometimes to justify the cost of stone, especially when you consider what thousands can be spent on in other areas... Re: Ceaser Stone Bench Tops, How much extra did you pay Help pls 17Oct 31, 2009 7:37 am dadandsue My experience to date is builders are adding a minimum of 25% on top of anything and sometimes up to 100% of they think they can get away with it.. Gotta be more than that, I cannot believe the gouging builders attempted and then purchasers allow! I've done 40mm QQ throughout the house- 2x bathrooms, laundry and kitchen and still spent only $4k. Probably only about 10m worth but the labour is what makes up the majority of the stone price. Add up the cutouts and finishing required on the exposed sides of the bench and it adds up quick. But these builders are just taking advantage! Then again, you should know the pricing before signing so don't like it...walk away! Re: Ceaser Stone Bench Tops, How much extra did you pay Help pls 18Oct 31, 2009 11:44 am Why not go for granite? It's a natural product, so is less likely to date than caesarstone. The price of average granite is the same or less than caesarstone (so a builder admitted to me). For my new house - kitchen and 5 vanities, the cost of all the vanities including granite benchtops is a total of $16,000 (trade price). Yes, that's 2-pak kitchen cabinets, 5 bathroom vanities and granite benchtops.
