Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 02, 2007 1:49 pm Hi
we've recenlty moved into our new home and have noticed that our rainwater tank is quite noisey - well the pump is - it's like it is constantly pumping water thru the pipes. It's connected to the toilets so we thought it would pump water thru the pipes when the toilet has been flushed - it seems to be doing this /pumping even when there is no flushing. while i wait and wait for our building supervisor to get back to me i thought i'd check here for some info/advice. does anyone know if this is normal? we're worried leaks or loss of pressure which is why the pump is working so much. ta muchly Rose Re: water tank - noisey pump 2Jul 02, 2007 7:19 pm Sounds like it could have an air lock - or the pressure bladder is not inflated enough or the valve between the tank and pump is turned off so the pump is sucking for water.
What sort of pump is it? Brand model etc. Do you have a manual ? - have a look in the book. Some pumps have a bladder that you need to pump up that works as the pressure regluation for the pump. Others you need to bleed to get the airlock out of them to make them work properly. Definiatley it should be pretty quiet and only run for the time the toilet etc needs to fill. Steve Re: water tank - noisey pump 3Jul 03, 2007 6:24 pm Doesn't the pump only starts where there's not enough water in the tank??
I thought there has been lots of rain recently, shouldn't your tank be almost full?? Don't just wait, give them a follow up call everyday! Mention that you will publish all these details on Internet if they don't come within a few days.
