I think boral could give you an approximate number based on the size of house....they were very helpful at their scoresby office, and also will give you addresses of houses built in a particular brick that you like the look of. Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Bricks - Builders Standard Range 24Jul 04, 2007 8:16 pm My apologies - you have told us before you are at Mernda.
Yep I'm in Geelong (actually just the other side of Geelong on the Bellarine Peninsula). Do you have a blog (or are you planning one)? I'd like to stay in touch with the progress of your home. When are you scheduled for start? Perry Re: Bricks - Builders Standard Range 25Jul 04, 2007 8:28 pm ...haven't got a blog at the moment but will most likely go for one...
We are at the very early stages ta the moment but may choose our land this weekend and get the ball rolling with the builder...looks like it will be a January 08 start date on the build.... will definately keep in touch throughout the whole process....it's has been very therapeutic so far!! Re: Bricks - Builders Standard Range 27Jul 05, 2007 11:16 am We've chosen Brighton bricks from the Austral range. 50mm at front.
Went down to the site today to have a chat with the supervisor, and the brickies have started. To my suprise, they look a fair bit different to what they did at colour selection or in the Austral show room. But it does look good, so I am happy about that. That is one thing with bricks, for the benefit of those who are just starting out, that I would recommend. See as many displays as possible, as the bircks do look different when you look at larger walls compared to small showroom examples. Re: Bricks - Builders Standard Range 28Jul 05, 2007 11:21 am great to read this thread. We were disappointed with Austral as the 2 bricks we chose have been discontinued-- it was 'drysdale' and cameo pink. we liked the looks of a house in the neighbourhood and asked them which brick it was.. took photos for our colour visit.. had to pay 1200 extra to get Boral's 'Sandalwood' .... the best thing is we know what the house will look like!!..
Hope u get the bricks of ur choice vp p.s- Our original choice was cremorne 41 but PD would not accomodate a shower downstairs .... opted for metricon's Nolan which was much reasonable at 240K base price (rumpus and alfresco included) Re: Bricks - Builders Standard Range 29Jul 05, 2007 11:21 am If you can, I'd suggest looking at a complete house which has been built with the bricks you are thinking of.
Vlad is correct - a single brick (especially if viewed indoors) looks different to a wall on a house. Remember too that different batches may vary slightly. What you see at the brick display place may look different to a recently finished house. Very true....as per above the brick companies are happy to provide addresses where a particular brick has been used. They look soooo different on a house to on the little showroom wall or sample. Hence our trip to Torquay to see our brick! Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. What we have done in a few theatres ( including my own) is run 2 layers of 13mm gyprock, but sounds insulation especially for the bass is really tricky as a lot of that… 4 1648 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair to do it properly you need to dig out the garden and waterproof the outside of the wall.
