Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 01, 2007 8:00 pm Hi,
Attended an 90 mins appt with a PD rep this morning (quote on Cremorne 41) Forgot to ask though about the supplier of their bricks...would anyone know? and more importantly, what range would the builders range include? (e.g Boral - XXX range).. any info would be appreciated!! Re: Bricks - Builders Standard Range 2Jul 01, 2007 10:59 pm Try checking the brochures you received or their web site. As this is quite important, normally it's clearly listed in the briochure/web site.
Hope this helps. Cheers Allan http://building-our-first-house.blogspot.com/ Current stage: old house demolished, contract signed, waiting for excavation to start... Re: Bricks - Builders Standard Range 3Jul 02, 2007 10:09 am PD lifestyle uses boral, they have 6 categories - cat 1 is included, up to cat 6 about $2300 extra. Ask for a copy of the categories as the boral ranges and the PD categories dont always match. Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Not meaning to hi-jack the thread but why do you (or why does anyone) think they use different bricks for the different ranges? ie. we have a prestige home and we have austral bricks. Probably to differentiate the ranges! We really wanted an austral brick but they would not let us for any price!! Hence the west australian cat 6 brick we ended up with from boral!!! Had to drive to torquay to see it on a house - the only one in vic! Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Its nothing special, just found it hard to pick form the boral range - austral has about 5 we would have been happy with!!! Always the way.... Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Bricks - Builders Standard Range 12Jul 02, 2007 2:55 pm fojean Thanks for the replies all.... Looked at the Boral website....am wondering whether the Escura range is included..... pretty sure they're in not cat 1, maybe somewhere in the mid-range....cat 3 or 4....so maybe around $1500 to upgrade. Though it might be more for the Cremorne being a BIG house!! Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Bricks - Builders Standard Range 13Jul 02, 2007 3:04 pm We didn't like any of the bricks in the standard range so we went and chose what we like and paid around $1000 to upgrade. I think it was well worth while.
Bricks are something that you simply cannot ever change in the future. Re: Bricks - Builders Standard Range 14Jul 02, 2007 3:13 pm We asked to have our bricks upgraded for free or we're going with another builder.

Your sales person will be able to give you an exact cost for each category of brick. Which will probably depend on each house and how many bricks needed. Not sure if you could use two different bricks....don't see why not ...I do know they wont use double height bricks! Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Bricks - Builders Standard Range 18Jul 02, 2007 6:09 pm We ended up upgrading hugely with Henley - to Daniel Robertson Bricks.
Love them but not the $6+ extra price Re: Bricks - Builders Standard Range 19Jul 02, 2007 6:19 pm mudtrilogy We ended up upgrading hugely with Henley - to Daniel Robertson Bricks. I tend to agree... is there a way that I can approximate the bricks needed to build the Cremorne 41...been told that it is all brick except the rear 1st floor...
