Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Damage by next door - photos 21Oct 23, 2009 8:06 am I called my SS and he said to give the head office a call, so I have done that and have been given the name and number of the admin person looking after next doors build. I've left a message so hopefully they get back to me today... if I don't hear anything in a few hours I will call back. 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Kick a$$ Ive been keeping an eye on our place to make sure the tradies arent affecting the existing neighbours - they already have their fence up though.. so it looks ok. Feel sorry for them though... they have houses going up on either side of them, plus 2 opposite. Joys of being the first in to the street I guess lol Re: Damage by next door - photos 24Oct 23, 2009 10:46 am Well I got a call back at 10am, so that's a good turn around. I explained about the fence and also mentioned the mortar everywhere and the power use - I was a bit rushed though as I had to dial into a teleconf with a 3rd party vendor from America so I might have sounded a bit short on the phone as I had my work mode on. I did mention that I wouldn't have bothered to call about the other items, but with the render I felt I should mention it. Our neighbour's tradies used our bricks without asking, telling or anything. We only noticed it when we saw our bricks on the neighbours front facade (he was using austral nougat and we're using boral sandy beach so yes the difference was quite stark ) But as he was getting his facade rendered, the tradies didnt mind using our bricks. Dh called the neighbour, beighbour gave dh his builders phone number. Builder said he would check with brickies. builder called back a day later and said brickies thought we "were done with our bricks and wouldnt be using them" and sent a pallette of bricks within 2 weeks. Yes they used over 200-300 of our bricks. They should definitely fix it for you. All the best! just when you think the drama of building is over...it sneaks up on you again Re: Damage by next door - photos 26Oct 23, 2009 3:46 pm Having construction going on around you is a bit of a pain, but it's reasonable to expect a bit of consideration. We had a guy start up power tools next door at 6:00am on a Sunday. My husband went over and politely asked him to desist. He was unapologetic until hubby asked him if he'd like it if we came round on HIS day off and started making a racket early in the morning. He buggered off after that. The brickies were the worst. Noise, mess....but at least we only had mortar in our garden beds, not on our house. Hope they sort it out for you quickly, Lisanne. Re: Damage by next door - Updated 27Oct 24, 2009 1:34 pm I didn't get the call on Friday from the supervisor but when I came home the fence was up and my house looks as though nothing at all has happened to it! Not sure what they did but I don't mind as now it looks fine - very confusing and would love to know what they did! They would know better if they knew how much of your heart and soul had gone into your home while you were building it - it's like an extension of yourself now, I bet!!! Of course you were going to notice . Glad it all got fixed OK with no stress on you.
