Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2648Aug 23, 2011 5:20 pm So first time in a while I popped down to Southern Park to have a bite and let the Joey run around. This is DISGUSTING truly DISGUSTING I dont blame the council fully for this, Us residents(if I can call myself that) have got to take blame for some of it. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2650Aug 23, 2011 7:11 pm So it has been almost 3 weeks since we finally became residents of GF. We are loving it although still so much to do inside and out. It is a bit lonely down where we are so will be good once some others move in around our block. We actually went to go out on Sunday and there were some young kids parked out the front of our house, they obviously thought nobody lived there yet. AS soon as they saw us they sped off so who knows what they were doing in the car. Poor kids can't get outside to play as we are still surrounded by mud, as the concreter keeps on getting delayed. He was supposed to start tomorrow but now not until Friday - He can't come soon enough. For those of you builidng with Clarendon we have not really had any major issues since moving in, so are very happy with them. Congratulations Bel - I have noticed your car most days on my drive-bys and I'm so happy that you are settling in well. Fingers crossed that your concreter will arrive soon to get that drive-way done. It must be difficult with the little ones surrounded by mud (I know my time will come...argh!). Our brickies have slowed to a halt somewhat with the weather predictions for all this week being wet. So, much as you, we are playing the waiting game again too. MW - I took the girls down to the park on Sunday morning and it didn't quite look as bad as your pics but it was pretty disgusting (there was a birthdya party of about 20 or so kids arriving as we were leaving so I don't know if your pics were before or after that). If someone (anyone!) would put more and larger bins around perhaps it wouldn't be so bad. It seems that most people are trying to put their rubbish in there but the bins are simply not large enough. I feel sorry for those looking out over the park- I'm sure that they didn't think it would look like a tip....more phone calls to the Council are obviously needed. I'm adding that to my list of things to do.... Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2652Aug 23, 2011 9:58 pm I have been on this rubbish issue with council for months..... they shirk responsibility and blame developers, developers say it's in councils hands... no one wants to assume responsibility. I did request larger bins with LIDS (as the Ravens are the things responsible for the rubbish strewn across the park.... i've seen it with my own eyes.... they take the rubbish out of the bins and spread them about). All the council managed to do was put wings on the bins, not even proper lids. I've also been asking about putting a tap in the BBQ area but council informs me there is NO PIPES or any provision for water anywhere in the park..... obviously the developers were cutting costs and figured people wouldn't need to CLEAN UP THE BBQ AFTER THEY USED IT! last i heard from council was that they were assessing whether it was financially viable for them to run pipes into the park... The park is constantly polluted and part of this is because people who have parties there don't take their rubbish with them. Which I think is absolutely disgraceful. Another reason is that the bins are not emptied as regularly as they should be, and the Ravens make a mess of the rubbish - which is why we need PROPER LIDS not 'wings'. We also need a couple more bins in the main area - there is ONE in the main area, which is just not adequate. I'm not sure how much time I will have to make more phone calls this week, so perhaps a few of you could call up council and request this as a matter of urgency. I'm 9 months pregnant and have a fair bit going on at the moment, not sure i will have the time to follow it up in the coming weeks!! The issue will just be ongoing if nothing is done about it soon. I'm so tempted to just go out and buy more bins myself! Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2653Aug 23, 2011 10:28 pm I just cant see why people dont take their rubbish home from their parties. Its all of a 5 min walk from any part of the estate to any dwelling so there is NO EXCUSE Seems ridiculous the developer and council are shirking responsibility. It is becoming hazardous now as there was oyster shells and broken beer bottles in the toddlers play area. Sheer STUPIDITY from residents, council and the developers. I will be sending a email or ten to both council and Investa to sort this crap out I went outside once. The graphics were alright, but the gameplay sucked! Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2654Aug 24, 2011 9:43 am The day Liverpool Council started billing the residents around the park for rates was the day that the council became responsible for the park. So as far as I am concerned they are the ones who should be cleaning up the mess and providing more and proper receptacles for the rubbish. They want the money they should provide the services. Bek - You were heavily involved with the recycling plant protest and as I imagine you would of had some dealings with the local councillors. Given that association if I were you I would be contacting them directly with your concerns about the cleaning and maintenance of the parks. After all why not go to the top if you have that avenue available. BTW congratulations and good luck with your pregnancy. MW - congratulations and good luck with your build. Hopefully we will be not too far behind. Bill. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2657Aug 25, 2011 2:19 pm Wow Guys Congrats Fifi I went outside once.
