Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1821May 14, 2011 9:31 pm As for sticking with Boral or being able to choose from another supplier, it wouldn't be a problem with GF approval, but more so the builder if they do not use them in the first place. Normally I wouldn't think that you could choose outside their suppliers but in instances like this it's anyones guess. I think you would have a case if you were to ask to use another supplier like PGH or Austral or even upgrade to a higher end brick from Boral at the builders cost. For all your joinery needs, we custom build kitchens, office, wardrobes, garage, laundry fit outs plus TV units, pantry, linen and everything in between. PM me for more info or details. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1822May 14, 2011 11:27 pm builder would probably get a better deal through Austral or PGH TBH. and escura smooth face is one of the PREMIUM bricks BTW did anyone see the park today huge jumping castle and tent for a kids party. but they still brought there own barbie and Bin I went outside once. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1824May 15, 2011 7:58 pm Fifi thats awful, these builders seem to ask so much of us as consumers but they as the experts seem to always disappoint! We are building with M and they originally sent us out to Austr*al bricks, we chose our brick and then they said sorry we didn't realise you have to go to B*ral so off we went and had to pick a totally different brick to our original choice. Just wondering if you where to choose a knew brick would you need to go back through council to have it approved? Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1825May 15, 2011 8:56 pm Maybe not so much council as they would not really be interested in the asthetics but most likely the developer but surely if you are getting a similar brick because of a issue in supply they would not hold it up I went outside once. The graphics were alright, but the gameplay sucked! Settlement:22nd June Slab:27th August Frame:16th Sept Bricked:21st Oct Roof:24th Nov Linings HANDOVER23rd March! Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1826May 15, 2011 9:26 pm If we go with the alternative from the original supplier it is only slightly lighter so I don't think I'd worry about resubmitting anything. Will be making some phone calls tomorrow to sort it all out. Fifi Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1827May 17, 2011 1:19 pm Ok, I am quite annoyed right now, so I will be brief. To everyone that is currently living in GF (or fairly close by), did you get the letter addressed 'To the resident' from council yesterday in the big yellow envelope? If you did, you MUST open it and read it, they are proposing a new recycling facility of some kind to the south of where the marina will be (if you look at GF on nearmap, it is in the cleared section to then east of stages 2 & 4), with access via a link road connected to Brickmakers and an entrance on Newbridge Rd (just up from Flower Power, the big metal gates where the right hand gate is like 80cm off the ground). This means that the road bridge that will connect us to the marina will have lovely views of this new facility - though according to the documents sent to us it won't be visible from any home in GF. What bothers me is that it says it will have approximately 324 truck movements (162 in & 162 out) every day (this equates to a truck entering or leaving every 3 minutes between 9am and 5pm), and whilst these trucks apparently won't be able to turn right into Brickmakers from the facility, they will obviously be using the road for the leg to join up to Governor Macquarie Drive. Oh yeah, on average the trucks are going to be around 20tonnes each. No mention on what kind of materials will be dealt with there, or what smells etc it could generate. I have had a look at the DA area on the council website, but couldn't see any mention of it on there... The letter has details regarding a public meeting about it on May 31st - I am going to try and go cause I really don't want it so close to home Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1828May 17, 2011 2:52 pm Oh my I never rec'd a letter, but what a joke. At the moment I live at Fairfield and the Visy recylcing plant on the Cumberland H'way is over the other side of the park outside my house, we can't see the plant itself BUT we can hear trucks and machinery and beeping allllll day and alllll night long, and about once to twice a fortnight we get a terrible smell in the air for about 6 hours and it's worse in Summer. Please provide details of the meeting - It's my birthday on the 31st May so I may not be able to make it but would definitely like to know the details, and perhaps is there away to vote against it in writing? Having a recycling plant there will be terrible. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1829May 17, 2011 4:07 pm Oh what! not cool, so its the land behind Flower power? cause they should be using the other accress IMO Also sorry I did not say Hi Jo at the park today, but did not want to interrupt I went outside once. The graphics were alright, but the gameplay sucked! Settlement:22nd June Slab:27th August Frame:16th Sept Bricked:21st Oct Roof:24th Nov Linings HANDOVER23rd March! Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1830May 17, 2011 5:55 pm Hi Jo Why shouldn't you be annoyed? Well I am and I am not quite but very annoyed. Yes, I will also try to go on 31st May. Do you know what time it will be held at? Guess what? when Brickmakers Road is build and completed, heavy traffic including truck movement will be diverted from Nuwarra Road to Brickmakers Road. Therefore traffic coming from Governor Macquarie Drive will flow straight to Brickmakers Road then connect to the lower part of Nuwarra Road and onto Heathcote Road. That will be a noise killer if this is true along with 324 truck movements (162 in & 162 out) every day! We should try to gather as many as possible the GF community to attend this 31st May meeting. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1831May 17, 2011 6:11 pm .....e told us that Stage 3A land is not registered yet. Confused Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1832May 17, 2011 6:28 pm Since reading the post I contacted Livo council about the proposal but the duty planner was busy. Waiting for a return call and will let you guys know of any news reagarding the situation. For all your joinery needs, we custom build kitchens, office, wardrobes, garage, laundry fit outs plus TV units, pantry, linen and everything in between. PM me for more info or details. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1833May 17, 2011 8:01 pm I will also be calling council tomorrow - because i am not happy with signing the contract for the land if this is going to be on our door step! My husband also mention that it is a bit weird that the letter was not addressed to the home owner (as all letters from council should be) and that it was in a yellow env not a council env???? Also we have done google search and only found the expansion of the recycling facility in chippping notron. So i guess we have to wait to speak to council! but i am mad! Slootriple8 - J told me that it was registered as if 2pm on Friday ( i spoke to her at 5pm on Friday) unless something has happen from then untill now. Also someone else mention that they spoken to a site manager and they said the same thing? so i am not sure what has happened. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1834May 17, 2011 8:09 pm This was in the bankstown express (myfather inlaw sent a pdf version but i can' uploaded - my husband check the map but it is not near up it is closers to casula) BANKSTOWN will be destroyed by traffic gridlock from 8000 extra trucks a day if the Moorebank terminal proceeds, Community A l l i a n c e p r e s i d e n t J i m McGoldrick says. Streamlining heavy freight formed a key part of the Federal Budget's 936 billion Nation Building project. The Government committed to the creation of an intermodal freight terminal at Moorebank as part of that project. The Moorebank Project Office was established last year to look at the prospects of establishing a major freight hub at Moorebank. The terminal would shift freight on to trains and away from Botany Bay, effectively getting more than one million trucks off Sydney roads, according to the Federal Government's Our Cities, Our Future - A National Urban Policy for a Productive, Sustainable and Liveable F\rture report. Feasibility and environmental impact studies are stil ongoing for the project. But Mr McGoldrick slammed the Budget allocation to the project, saying residents will be prisoners in their own homes. "Studies have shown diesel smoke will kill you, cause asthma and lung disease, cancer to mention only a few," he said. "This looney Labor Federal Government need their swansong Jim McGoldrick fears residents will become prisoners in their homesif the Moorebank terminal proceeds. real quick for this insanity. "Sadly the Liberal state and federal parties also want this at M o o r e b a n k . O p e n i n g u p Bankstown Airport to 24 hour freightjet planes is also an option that nobody wants to talk about." Other infrastructure projects as part of last week's Budget included the commitment of the M5 widening project. The Nation Building Program has also committed to reducing travel times from Campbelltown into the city as part of the F5 widening project in South West Sydney. The project, widening the highway between Narellan Road to Brooks Road, forms a key part of the Nation Building Program in Sydney. I Opinion: Page 22. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1835May 17, 2011 8:22 pm Hi all, My husband has just found out that the people who are building the marina are The BENEDICT Industries Pty Ltd This is a Mining, Resources and Recycling Company. His has also found some information in the proposal for the marina so it might be a good idea for everyone to re read the proposal again. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1836May 17, 2011 9:17 pm I can't believe this new recycling proposal! The existing one (Benedicts) was recently on Today Tonight or one of those shows with residents complaining about the dust that goes over everything and all up and down Newbridge Road, and now they want to put in another. I will definately be at the meeting on the 31st May to voice my opinion about paying the best part of a million dollars to live in a brand new house in what is becoming a great community only to be trashed by the boffins in power. Whoever finds out when and where, keep us posted. I'm furious when I should be excited about our red pegs! So deflated right now.... Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1838May 17, 2011 10:15 pm I recvd the 'to the resident' packet also. It is not from the council - it is from a consultancy firm hired by the 'Moorebank Recyclers' company to gauge public opinion etc BEFORE they lodge a DA with council. Unfortunately, as I don't get home until after 7PM, I won't be able to attend the meeting. Looking at the map they provided, the site is pretty much in a direct line with the end of Bradbury Street. It is on the other side of the bushland, up until the river. I don't know how many of you have ventured into the bush down there, but we do go there for walks occassionally (naughty of us!). The proposed site is already cleared land, but the strip of bushland is not really that expansive, so it's not going to be terribly far from GF.I would imagine that the noise of the crushers, which will operate 6 days a week would be heard at GF. The plant is going to recycle building materials - concrete, rock, sandstone etc and yes, entrance will be via Brickmakers drive, about 350 mtrs in from Newbridge Rd - they will build a link road from Brickmakers to the site, along with traffic lights. Trucks will not be able to turn left when leaving the site - so they won't be able to continue along Brickmakers down to Nuwarra. bet they still try. This pretty well sucks - I don't understand how one developer wants to build a classy marina then another plans to build this heap of c$%# right next to it. So much for the increase in property values.... Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1839May 18, 2011 6:36 am MnM Twodragons - did you get a letter 2? MnM - I didn't receive a letter. We haven't got a slab yet so I presume they just did a drop off rather than get everyone's address from Council. Maxie- The extra info is helpful. What is the venue and time so I can try and get there? These public forums are always designed to show low numbers, that's why they put them juts outside of practical times for normal working people. I know - I used to run them for an electricity company. I wonder if that Alliance that protested about the Moorebank freight terminal is aware of this as well. We also need to try and get some media there so that we can send them a loud and clear message that we will not stand for this? Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1840May 18, 2011 7:28 am Maxie was right, it's from a legal firm, not council (my bad). Funny thing is, not everyone in the estate got them (Bek didn't get one for example) The public meeting is on Tuesday May 31, 6-8pm in the function room at New Brighton Golf Club. Call Judith Stubbs & Associates (the lawyers that sent the proposal) on 0242837300 to make a booking (bookings are appreciated) Oh, and MnM - what you are referring to is the proposed Transport Intermoday on Moorebank Ave (down near the army college of engineers) Hi, we live in an area where the black soil is prone to a lot of movement.
