Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2582Aug 13, 2011 9:14 pm Went back to the austral bricks today to have another look at the standard range as the bricks we wanted costed $11k! thinking of going with the everyday freedom. Has anyone heard of BASIX costing more if you go with darker bricks? Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2587Aug 14, 2011 8:33 pm Fifi Wow Dave and Waynee!! So close to being real residents (not stalkers like us!). Our SS says we will be in within 4 weeks, which is about 6 weeks ahead of schedule!! Happy dances aplenty in this house . Gas went on today and tiling was finished earlier this week. Getting close now...can't wait!! Have a good weekend all. Fifi So excited for you! You will be in well and truly for Halloween! Trick or treating aplenty! Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2588Aug 14, 2011 8:35 pm tjifone I was told we had to use boral bricks? Depends on the builder. Think most have to choose from Boral. Clarendon use Austral and PGH For all your joinery needs, we custom build kitchens, office, wardrobes, garage, laundry fit outs plus TV units, pantry, linen and everything in between. PM me for more info or details. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2589Aug 14, 2011 8:40 pm We all were Buddy just like we all had to have different textures for the front facade and a corner feature on the side for corner blocks yet there are plenty that do not conform to the design guidelines some people do the right thing and other just dont care to much Clarendon should know better considering the parent company! Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2590Aug 14, 2011 8:49 pm I don't think Clarendon are doing anything wrong as they obviously have permission to use other brick suppliers....for what reason, I don't know. You're right though. All builders should have the same guidelines ie. bricks, finishes etc. As for following the guidelines, if it is through the builder, they are usually pretty strict But when it comes to guidelines after handover, well......that's different story with people choosing to ignore them. It is such a shame for those who have done the right thing and even spent more than they can afford just to comply when some clearly do not and will more than likely get away with it. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2591Aug 14, 2011 8:52 pm Well it said in the Design guidelines Boral is the preferred supplier (again very ??????) Don't care anymore TBH just planning to get in this house and start living I went outside once. The graphics were alright, but the gameplay sucked! Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2592Aug 14, 2011 8:59 pm Yeah Warren that's what we got told boral site so need to use as much boral products as you could. I wanted Austral but got told needed to use boral. Arh done know happy with our brick selection. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2593Aug 14, 2011 9:00 pm It's true. Best to not let the guidelines dictate your dream. It's all wishy washy and by the final stage there will be different guidelines and builders so everything that was done in previous stages will be forgotten anyway. Just do what you have to do to make your house a reality as long as you are happy! Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2595Aug 15, 2011 10:13 pm Walk through went well I think. Took the good part of 3 1/2 hours to complete. Picked quite a few defects but 99% were paint of course. So this week is completing defects. Bamboo floor goes down next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Then final walk through, clean, carpet then handover. Hopefully about 2 or so weeks. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2596Aug 15, 2011 10:45 pm I find all walk throughs have paint defects so why dont they bite the bullet and paint 2 top coats over the undercoat just seems so bloody backward I went outside once. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2597Aug 16, 2011 5:41 am Ours did. We upgraded to a 3 coat system. Paint looks great overall. You can actually tell it has 3 caots but it doesn't stop the sloppy work like bad cutting in, dirt on the roller and simple dings and damage. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2598Aug 16, 2011 10:34 am Ah Oh well that is just Crap! could not justify 3 coats when I will be painting feature walls throughout and extra cost EBH will probably have to do 3 coats anyway considering I used to be in the paint/scenic industry and can spot defect/colour variations a mile away HAHAHAHHAHAHA if they think I am picky try dealing with Hollywood and TV directors I went outside once.
