Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2481Jul 31, 2011 6:37 pm Thanks Ojaaynme, we are in defects period ATM, 2 weeks left as of Thursday. Got me buggered how they are going to get all the defects fixed in that time, just hoping they do though as if they don't our settlement will have to be extended, and rent extended etc etc the domino affect will start. Got our fingers crossed all goes to plan. Yes it will be a bit scary at night living there with no one around Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2482Jul 31, 2011 7:06 pm @ Bek it was Carpet Call! however it was the top of line carpet and underlay (how come I always gravitate towards the most expensive things without even knowing it is the most expensive)GRRRRRRR I went outside once. We chose another brick rather than wait 6-8 weeks, and I actually like the new bricks better!! Good luck with your choices. Fifi Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2487Aug 01, 2011 11:01 pm Hi everyone, I haven't posted for a while but have enjoyed reading about everyone's adventures. We got to lockup stage 2 weeks ago (or "lockout" stage) so things are going nicely. SS predicts about 8 more weeks. Getting excited but nervous as lots to do after handover before move in. Waynee, can you please pm me the details of the building inspection company you used? Thanks Fifi Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2488Aug 01, 2011 11:47 pm If anyone is lot 3135, just letting you know that your site was pegged out today And whoever owns lot 3133, I hope you get lots of money for your block at auction. So, we have the first pegout in stage 3, and the first block up for resale as well. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2489Aug 02, 2011 1:05 am Damn our peg out is booked for Friday So we should see some movement on lots of blocks soon As for an auction on that block GOOD LUCK I went outside once. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2491Aug 02, 2011 9:08 am Congrats MW and Lot 3135 (our next-door neighbours) Very jealous! Can't wait for our turn. There is so much happening at GF at the moment. Good luck Waynee and Fifi, both your places are looking great. On another note has anyone or is anyone building there own letter box??? Hubby is keen to have a go but I have been reading some horror stories... Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2492Aug 02, 2011 9:20 am Have a look at this thread http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=50012 http://www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/developmentapplications.htm#Advertised%20DA - it's the third one down the list. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2494Aug 02, 2011 10:38 am The Site Plan on the NPs indicates 2 bedroom units. At least that is what I can see, the plans are not very high resolution. The poor people of Ikara Cr will have the peace and quiet of their little cul-de-sac shattered by the additional traffic. Congratulations to those who are a little closer to starting their dream. We have been informed that our DA is in front of council at this moment. So I don't know how much longer that means. I wonder why the people on Lot 3133 are selling? Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2495Aug 02, 2011 11:17 am Hi All New to the forum. We are in contract stage and have just done our colours (that was fun!!). We are researching timber floors (downstairs only) but have been told by a company that we may need to seal the slab first. Has anyone heard this? Does a slab need to breathe? Will this void our warranty with our builder? Kind of hard to work out what is the real deal when you are told so many varying stories.. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2496Aug 02, 2011 12:19 pm you need to make a moisture barrier between the slab and the timber Both are porous and the timber would wick moisture from the slab it wont effect any builders warranties AFAIK I went outside once. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2498Aug 02, 2011 5:55 pm @Mon Have you got the guidelines from the GF website?? thats a good start http://www.georgesfair.com.au/meet-geor ... lines.aspx Become intimate with the info in the guidelines to avoid disappointment if you read this whole thread LOTS of questions you have not asked will be answered as there is a TONNE of info in this great thread now when you build your fence you can get your neighbours details from either council or possibly the GF sales office you will need to come to an agreement with the neighbour with what quote you accept and go from there The only way you are going to have issues is if you both want different fences but if you follow the guidelines you are pretty much stuck with a 1.8m lap and cap timber fence I went outside once.
