Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2681Aug 29, 2011 10:50 am I would think it would not hurt to ask the home owner personally. we like the scheme on a display home and asked the builder for the colour selection of the display and the were only to happy to help out but if it is someone's home why not knock on the door and ask them I would be chuffed if someone knocked on my door asking for the colour choices that I chose for my new home I went outside once. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2688Aug 29, 2011 11:07 pm Hay infocus & MW, we supplied 4 stainless fans that EB installed, got them from Becon lighting at cross roads, there called ECO fans and have 2 x 9 watt compact fluoro bulbs and look fantastic, are quite and don't wobble and are very solid looking. Will take a pic tomorrow and post here. 2 days to go Dave !!. Walked past your place after taking my daughter to the park on Sunday and saw you up the side of your house Hay Bel, yep were all settled, don't mention the plants lol, got into trouble for trimming them so small ! Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2690Aug 30, 2011 4:02 pm Hi All, I have been reading this forum for some time now as my partner and i have put our deposit down on a block in Schulten St in the Brushwood release. We have our tender presentation tomorrow with EB for the Manchester. Starting to get a bit nervous as where both first time owners and first time builders so i found this thread so valuable so thank you to everyone. i was just wondering if there is anything i should really keep an eye out for tomorrow? Any feedback of what to expect tomorrow would be great. thanks everyone where both really looking forward to being part of the GF community Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2691Aug 30, 2011 4:06 pm expect to pay alot of money HAHHAHAHAHAHA I went outside once. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2693Aug 30, 2011 5:33 pm Just got our email from the builder to let us know our house is at lock-up - well it's not quite but almost there by my accounts! Wow! The foundations were laid in mid-July so we're pretty chuffed. So excited for you Dave and Fi jusat about to become residents. We can hardly wait too! On another note- has anyone had gutterguard or leaf guar installed? I am currently getting quotes and I'm have no idea what a reasonable price for a double storey is. We're looking at the colorbond one to match the roof tiles and the one that goes under the tiles, not just sitting in the gutter. If anyone has had quotes and would like to share, please PM me! Thanks in advance! Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2694Aug 30, 2011 8:18 pm R&A lol thanks for the heads up MW Hi R&A and welcome. We approached the tender as a wish list so added everything we wanted and then worked out what was reasonable and what we could get done cheaper or do ourselves i.e. we took out the air con and are doing this after handover, we are now getting a better unit for less $$$, doing the laundry fit out ourselves (lucky my hubby is pretty handy), we have an electrition friend who will install our down lights to save a heap, but then other things we thought were quite reasonable through the builder. Just remember you can add and subtract after. Good luck Congrats on the slab MW!!! Drove past yesterday and seen a trade having a cat nap and sunning himself on your porch LOL. A lot of red pegs around today. Feeling a bit flat we really thought we should be at least 6 weeks ahead of where we are and add the shut down over chrissy and just when we get settled into our new rental pad got a call from the real estate agent to arrange a valuation on the property grrrrrrr hopefully it is for re financing and not to sell because I really really don't want to move again. Congrats Fi and Dave both your place seem to have gone up really quickly you must be stoked. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2695Aug 30, 2011 8:41 pm Thanks for the congrats guys. It has been a mission, not that it's over yet. Isn't the GF build cycle amazing. Just as one stage nears completion (well some to most homes), another commences. I remember when we started and others were nearing the end. I was jealous and thought our day would never come but here we are, tomorrow @ 2:30 it's official. For all that are just starting, you'll be in before you know it....you'll see For all your joinery needs, we custom build kitchens, office, wardrobes, garage, laundry fit outs plus TV units, pantry, linen and everything in between. PM me for more info or details. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2696Aug 30, 2011 9:34 pm MW & infocus, the fans we installed are Lucci Futura Eco series in stainless - Becon lighting. They recommend 2 x 15 watt compact fluoro but we used 2 x 9 watt which gives approx 60 - 70watts of a standard glob, perfect lighting and you are only running 18watts each light/fan, every bit helps when the power bills rolles in Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2697Aug 31, 2011 7:38 am Hey R&A i am in the same position as you, we have our Tender Presentation this friday we have just put together a list of all the things we want and will see what the costs comes to and work it from there... good luck Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2698Aug 31, 2011 10:05 am Hi R&A, Welcome! Make sure you have a list of all your questions, concerns, add ons and take offs! Also don't feel pressured into signing anything untill you are 100% happy. I know with our tender there was some many things we changed or were incorrect, so we didn't pay our deposit untill we were happy with ALL of the outcomes. We are also building in the bushwood release - so far all we have done is our first tender appointment in June - we are building with c and they are still waiting on reports which they can't get untill GF have finished their work. Good luck tomorrow! Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2699Aug 31, 2011 11:00 am has anyone used the following bricks: JAROSITE or AMETHYST, as you know it makes it easier to see how these look like in real life these bricks are off the GF Colour Scheme boards... Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2700Aug 31, 2011 8:07 pm Hi All, Thanks for the lovely welcomes and the feedback re: tender. All went well today, it wasn't as bad as we thought it was going to be. Stopped past the options gallery as well - really looking forward to picking all the colours and finishes.
