Local newsagency? local news agency should have some Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 4805Mar 10, 2013 6:45 pm Fellow Residents, I wanted to share a personal account with you relating to the detrimental effect the waste from this proposed recycling plant may have on the individual/family/community and thereby reiterate how important it is we fight tooth and nail against this proposed monstrosity being built next to our homes. My brother is currently in remission from Mesothelioma (asbestos cancer). His third operation involved the removal of a kidney, half his liver, half his stomach and a third of his diaphragm. The doctors hope (as he) that they have removed all cancerous cells because another operation is not possible and radiation/chemo has formerly proven unsuccessful. He is now unable to work (he is only 50), he cannot sit/stand/laydown for extended periods of time without pain. A special diet is needed because his stomach can no longer tolerate regular food. He is married with three teenage children whom have also had to endure a 5 year battle of operations, chemo and radiation not knowing if their father was going to come out the other side. The specialists caring for my brother have deducted that his cancer was caused by a single minute asbestos fiber that lodged into his stomach lining when he was a toddler. This fiber was brought home on my fathers clothing and 40 years later presented itself in a vicious form of stomach cancer that spread to other parts of his body. There are many families setting up residence in Georges Fair. Do you want to risk subjecting your children to the possibility of asbestos or silica cancer? Because this will likely be the outcome for some unlucky individuals, who wont learn of their outcome till later years when this insidious disease presents itself. There are posts from others detailing the problems that asbestos and silica exposure can have on an individual. Don't be fooled into believing that all particles will be able to be mitigated on the site through the proposed management of spraying with water and containment structures. It simply will not be enough. Keep hounding those responsible for making decisions on this project through your emails and letters. Regards Tim and Bel Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 4806Mar 11, 2013 9:59 am I have attached a link showing the aerial view of the proposed land for the recycling plant as seen on Nearmap. I am not sure if you can see the attached link without a licence. Election year is the perfect time to voice our objection to the PM. The more we mail our objection letters the better. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 4816Mar 12, 2013 9:01 pm Yes Pawer, I think all current residents probably got one in the letterbox. Basically it was a single page outline from Moorebank recyclers detailing paragraphs from their submission as to why there will be no compromise to residents if their recycling plant is approved. What they failed to mention was the fact that the information is years out if date and there are massive shortfalls in their assumptions!! Just a massive waste of paper if you ask me!! There was absolutely nothing new in it..!! Fi Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 4817Mar 13, 2013 5:17 pm Please check out this link for a story on how local residents around the Moorebank Recyclers site in Camelia are affected....this could be us!! http://parramatta-advertiser.whereilive ... 5S0.mailto Fifi Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 4818Mar 13, 2013 5:59 pm Well that was a disappointing story it made investa look like liars and did not touch enough on the main issue of the plant to much winging about noise and not enough about the main problems. Fifi Let's try and get today tonight to do the story. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 4819Mar 13, 2013 6:05 pm Thanks to Channel 9 ACA. Well presented.
