Firstly, if the sales office is telling people the Recycling Plant isn't going ahead - perhaps Mrs President (Fi?) should kindly tell them that they are misleading people - as far as we know, their first DA was refused, but they will be submitting another one. So - far from in the clear. We are hopeful... but I don't think it's safe to say it isn't going ahead just yet. Re the flooding and insurance - go to another insurer. I haven't had a problem with GIO, and I believe they are one of very few insurance companies left who actually do insure for flooding (thanks to the QLD flooding disaster). Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 3226Feb 07, 2012 8:49 pm Fifi Hi all Question not related to building but can anyone recommend a good GP in the area? I need to take the kids to a local Dr now so any recommendations would be much appreciated... Thanks Fifi Fi - it's not quite LOCAL... But Dr Low in Casula (on the hume hwy opposite the chicken shop) is FANTASTIC! great with kids, VERY thorough, and he bulk bills. Absolutely love him and he is by far the best GP i've had. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 3227Feb 07, 2012 9:12 pm BillMac Went down to the house this arvo to find all the bottom floor gyprocked and the sweet sound of mandarin voices chattering away upstairs.... I ran some hi fi speaker cable to the outdoor room and additional rear speakers on Sunday and felt very guilty about being caught even though it is my house and my land. Re my previous post I checked the data cabling and it was already cat6 run throughout the house so I'm not sure what SS was talking about, maybe there needed to be some alterations at the network hub? Hi Bill, You don't drive a wagon with a company name on the side do you? I didn't pay enough attention to remember the make or the company at the time. What happened with the cable run? Did they make you remove it? Houda ---- Built the Lincoln 35 at Georges Fair Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 3228Feb 08, 2012 11:42 am Hi Houdaman, Yes I do have a white van with a company logo. The cabling went well and as far as I can make out my little mates who were installing the plaster board have hidden all the evidence of my work. I sure hope that the measurements I took on the cable locations are accurate...now was that measure once cut twice or measure twice....? Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 3229Feb 08, 2012 3:00 pm I was in the park - parked opposite your place and saw you pull up - thought you were a builder. I wonder if I can slip some Cat6 around the place one weekend? Oh - and our block was scraped today!! Woohoo! We have begun! And now time seems to slow down and the next 6 months or so will seem like a year. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 3231Feb 08, 2012 7:00 pm finished the internal colours selections today. quite a lot variations that we add today, and will see how much it will cost in about 2weeks time. the lady said, raw*** no longer doing pre-wiring for downlight ? they charge $150 each now. can anyone confirm with this please? Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 3232Feb 08, 2012 7:31 pm What do you mean pre-wiring for downlight. Just tell them to put a normal light point including switch, wiring, globe etc. and change to a downlight after. The only thing is to make sure there is no beam above them. $150 is way excessive!! Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 3234Feb 08, 2012 8:36 pm EBH wouldn't just leave a hole, but they will put basic baton lights in and I'm sure R would too. Then after handover just swap them for down lights. I did this just for downstairs. Also to note that for external lights and stair lights, I am getting junction boxes put in and I will swap these for lights later on. Houda ---- Built the Lincoln 35 at Georges Fair Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 3236Feb 08, 2012 8:48 pm No Builder would leave a hole with wire hanging out. Yeah we got junction boxes for the tread lights, exterior lights and power, under kitchen cabinet lights and 1 above the stair void. They left that one loose in the ceiling cavity. They weren't allowed to mount it for OHS reasons. C charged us about $50 per light point. Then we paid $70 for LED downlight. Much cheaper and better downlight I'm sure For all your joinery needs, we custom build kitchens, office, wardrobes, garage, laundry fit outs plus TV units, pantry, linen and everything in between.
