Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1085Jan 05, 2011 7:51 pm We hooked up with Optus wireless once we'd moved to our temporary digs and it is quite good, in fact I've found that the internet service is actually a bit faster than we had with their cable broadband service we had before. We took our laptop down to GF and had no trouble browsing the internet from there. We also just upgraded to an Optus $99 cap mobile plan for the wife's phone which gives unlimited calls to mobiles and wired phones (local calls). I'm actually thinking of not getting a Telstra line into the new house based upon the service and cost experienced so far. The only negative is that people may be reluctant to phone a mobile number (actually may be a positive - no more nuisance calls from Overseas call centres at dinner time). Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1086Jan 05, 2011 9:23 pm Hi gasman. Yes I'm considering the same thing myself. Likely to get wireless with Optus and Not have a Land line.. Only problem is when u make a 45 min call to for example a bank from your mobile... Like I did today... Can use up all your usage!!! I've een using tethering from my iPhone and it's just too slow so might have to look into Optus wireless. Knowing my luck though I will get the Optus wireless then telstra will tell me oh now we can give you ADSL! Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1093Jan 09, 2011 7:03 pm NOT good to hear about the phone lines but I was pretty upset about having to go back to Telstra after swearing to never do so again after soooo many experiences like you've just had with them Bek. I even wrote to the Telecommunications Ombudsman but that never resolved anything. So it looks like we'll be trying to get Optus to do us a bundle for our mobiles and Mobile Broadband until we can also get a home phone line. I'm sure we'll all get there in the end! As for our progress - we signed our contract yesterday (and had it amended to commence on or before 1st May!) so we're finally off and running. Expecting to do colour appointment within the week, finalise our financing by end next week and then just sit back until it all goes through GF and Council. Awesome! Re: Liverpool Council approval times 1094Jan 09, 2011 11:38 pm perthy2 Hi there, Anyone know what the Lvrpool council planning approval turnaround times are ...? our plans were submitted on 15/12/2010 Thanks Perthy2 Hiya Perthy and welcome. We went into council in the first week of December '09, and came out the first week of Feb '10 (single storey) - so removing the xmas closedown (2 weeks) ours was in council 7 weeks Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1095Jan 11, 2011 2:57 pm Hi Everybody, Newbie here. Building on Bradbury St. Just wondering... this might a be a very silly question... if you are building with Eden Brae, is an external TV antenna included? And have you used an independent building inspector just after the frames/roof tiles/external brickwork went up to see if work done by the builder was on par? Thanks! Yuen Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1096Jan 12, 2011 7:44 am no antenna is not included AFAIK no builder gives you an antenna just the points I went outside once. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1097Jan 12, 2011 1:31 pm I have just noticed they are showing more of the Parklands release Stage 1 including our block 3130. What's worth noting is the large 1867m2 block west of Christiansen Blvd. Probably for a small shopping complex. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1098Jan 12, 2011 6:20 pm Yuen Hi Everybody, Newbie here. And have you used an independent building inspector just after the frames/roof tiles/external brickwork went up to see if work done by the builder was on par? Thanks! Yuen We aren't getting an antennae. We used a building inspector at lock up stage (before gyprocking) and will be using him again at PCI. Funnily enough, our building inspector indentified mainly cosmetic issues while the Tyrrells inspector identified a lot more defects and more substantial ones at that. For us it is the case of the more qualified eyes look at the work the better. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1099Jan 12, 2011 8:33 pm Hello all at GF That large 1867m2 block (Lot 3099) is actually going to be the first lots of townhouses of a total 80+ all over GF. In this block is going to be all in all 6 townhouses. It will be cul-de-sac, the entry into the block at Maddecks Avenue. The townhouses will be built by R****N. Unfortunately no local shops in GF. Wonder whether the nearest Moorebank shopping village will be renovated afterall there will be 950 more of us GF dwellers moving in? Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 1100Jan 12, 2011 9:51 pm Medium density housing hmmmmm In other news had my first PCV have to pay 56 big ones for a bigger water tank for BASIX I went outside once.
