Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 525Sep 21, 2010 6:11 pm Hey Bek, I couldn't get Optus. They told me that they don't service the area, also they can't do new connections, a Telstra technician has to come out for that! The only internet they could give me was wireless, but that was too expensive. After 5 or so years having everything with Optus, I have had to move back over to Telstra... As to the mother's group, the park would be pretty good idea, we could picnic, salad & a sausage sizzle? Hey just something to share with you for consideration .. we got built ins with our house, however no shelves or drawers, so a lot of our clothes are still aren't where they're suppose to go Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 526Sep 21, 2010 7:04 pm Yeah I don't have a prob with ADSL1. Thats all I have too. Maybe we're living in the past Bek!! My reason is I'm currently in Prestons. Years ago when I wanted from dial up to ADSL, no companies could supply it in my area. Finally we got ADSL and now I'm having the same probs going from ADSL1 to 2. So like Bek said, I wouldn't know any better either. It's not like I'm going backwards whereas some of you will be so I can understand your frustration. I am surprised though considering it's a brand new area. For all your joinery needs, we custom build kitchens, office, wardrobes, garage, laundry fit outs plus TV units, pantry, linen and everything in between. PM me for more info or details. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 528Sep 21, 2010 7:22 pm You probably just gave yourself another 3 years worth of weekends work infocus I am on Cable ATM so ADSL is going to be like going to dialup Roll on NBN I went outside once. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 529Sep 21, 2010 8:09 pm I don't mind the work. I do alot of shopfitting and photography work for friends. It works out best for both of us. Shopfitting is my full time job.We have less overheads so can charge less than the big guys plus all our work is custom made. There is no mass production one size fits all. And photos are my overgrown hobby so once again can charge alot less than others thus helping both our needs. As for the internet, I laugh at dialup. My mums on dialup. My god it takes about 5 mins just to refresh the page. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 530Sep 21, 2010 10:58 pm oh i'd be SO interested in the built-ins infocus..... will PM you. We actually have a few "spare" tall boys and side tables that we will be putting into the wardrobes until we can afford properly fitted ones, so at least our clothes have somewhere to go... we're going to have SO many 'temporary' measures in the new house (like redi-blinds, etc) until we can afford the real deal.... ahh well... Yes I figured we'd have to go with Telstra which i'm VERY unhappy about as I vowed never to go with them again - they've gotten the last 11 bills of mine incorrect and i literally spend an hour on the phone every month getting it corrected... and not just little things either, things like charging me twice for foxtel, charging me for dial-up internet (when i'm with another company for internet!), not including my free local calls in my bill (charging me for them) and the list goes on... i'm really peeved we will have no other option but to go with them..... Im a little peeved that we have to go with Telstra as well, we also had a lot of problems with them. They like to charge you for things you dont have and they also like to call a lot and try and get more business from you. My husband is also a shopfitter/Joiner but im not prepared to share him round until our house is complete and that may be a very long time... (only joking, im sure he'd be happy to help you all out as well!) Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 532Sep 22, 2010 10:56 am infocus Just a quick note re the built ins. Thats great infocus, when we move in I might get you round to have a look at what you can do for us (and work out what if anything I can do in return for you once you are in) Bek we're going to have SO many 'temporary' measures in the new house (like redi-blinds, etc) until we can afford the real deal.... ahh well... Our blinds are going in tomorrow! You only really HAVE to be with Telstra for around 3 months (then when you cancel you don't get the additional $100 service fee), then you are free to change to whatever providor you want. Jas. Hey Bek, I couldn't get Optus. They told me that they don't service the area, also they can't do new connections, a Telstra technician has to come out for that! Yeah, Telstra have to come out and connect you up to the network, but you should be able to change to any other service provider now that you have a physical cable going to your house. How long did it take Telstra to come out and hook you up after you called them? Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 533Sep 22, 2010 11:40 am Hi all can anyone advise me on the message from Clarendon below. We have been waiting 4 weeks now for the tender to come back from Clarendon but this is the response they have just given me as to the delay: "We are having trouble getting a linen plan with distances and bearings on it as the developer is not releasing this at the moment. Our site inspector believe your site should be finished around the 5/10/10, if this happens then we can get in and do contour and borehole. The site inspector is going back out to your site next week and will give us an update on when he believes your block will be ready to go. I will keep you update on the progress. I also have Rohan trying to get the linen plan for us as well" I thought all builders were still able to give you a tender with a rough estimate and not need access to the land, did anyone else have this problem? I am getting anxious as time is running out, if we want everything to be finalsied by Feb next year ready to start building then we are cutting it fine. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 534Sep 22, 2010 2:51 pm Bel - they can still give you an approx tender without the borehole.... M did this with us, they gave us an estimate of site costs based on the developers original contour plan and did it as a 'worst case scenario' so that we actually would likely get a credit rather than an increase once they had access to the block. And we did - we ended up with a $1800 credit. I'd push it... they should definitely be able to give you a tender which is "subject to site costs" which is exactly what mine was. We signed, paid the deposit etc on this basis and it was all good. Joannapaulp - Optus don't service the area... you can't get them at GF, my brother had the same problem where he is living - so it's only Telstra unfortunately... even after 3 months. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 535Sep 22, 2010 8:17 pm I wonder why Clarendon are having difficulty ???? and in other news my home is on the market I Am SO EXCITED I went outside once. Just keen to know if it's cable or satellite, fingers crossed it's cable ( heaps faster response and more stable) then you would be able to have cable internet!!!!!!!!!! I went outside once.
