Sometimes, do you ever wish you didn't start this process, and just stayed where you were or bought an existing home? It sometimes seems a lot of effort!! Our Adenbrook home was completed in September. Re: How old are the people who are building new homes 31Jul 01, 2007 1:06 am ahuang perryr I hope there is no-one here over 55. Cheers Allan http://building-our-first-house.blogspot.com/ Hi Allan, I really try to get my son to do all the hard work... but he just wants to play all the time. He says he is too young to work hard on the house - I think you are right, he should just get on with it, after all he is 6 yrs old... Ed If I write "I" please read "We"! Be good. Re: How old are the people who are building new homes 32Jul 01, 2007 2:11 am The first home I built was in I think 1974 and it was our second home and I remember it was $22,000 for the house and land now just move the commer and add a zero and that is just for the house, so yes I am a bit over 55 and silly me I'm building again with 3 other houses in between but I could tick the 40 to 45 for my partner this is his first home to build

Re: How old are the people who are building new homes 35Jul 01, 2007 12:10 pm I'm 41 and partner is 40. Owned 2 previous houses and renovated them. This is the first new build. I'm regretting it already - living in a rental miles from work, daughter complaining all the time and we have just purchased the land. Beetle Re: How old are the people who are building new homes 36Jul 01, 2007 12:33 pm Hello, we are 36 and 37 and this is the first time we have built. Happy to say as we have nearly reached completion it has all been fairly stress-free.
From 21 to 27 we moved about 10 times and then purchased established home at age 27. We always wanted to build as the idea of being able to choose something that we could truly call our own appealed to us. Re: How old are the people who are building new homes 37Jul 01, 2007 1:33 pm YSSIM First_Timer_Ray My husband and I are both 24 and are building our first home. We would have been happy to buy an established house, but to make the mortgage payments worthwhile (over rent) we would have been spending the same or more money to buy an established house than to build exactly what we want in the first place. We are both pretty settled sort of people, so while I don't think we'll stay there forever, we definitely wouldn't be moving within the next 5-8 years, unless we see a better financial opportunity. Ray. Ray, I really thought you were a guy all this time! Please tell me I'm not the only one? Or maybe I haven't really been paying attention to your posts and didn't realise you were a woman. /quote] That's ok. I'm not offended - j/k My name is Rachel - nickname is Ray.
