Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 15, 2009 7:03 am Hey guys, Building a home in the Hunter Valley region of NSW, half bagged brickwork the other half james hardie scyon stria cladding. I have a number of concerns about the cladding installation, mainly around the edges/joins - which would be common with cladding I'd imagine. I don't know if I'm just being picky or... The things I picked up without looking hard: It does not seem to slot into the side of the aluminium window frames evenly, some slot right in, otherwise are 10mm out, it just looks 'odd' to me, like window frame is poking too far out of the wall. Maybe I'm jumping the gun on this one, I really dont know. Hard to display in photo, you can kind of make it out around the middle of this frame. http://home.exetel.com.au/snippy/images/house/131109/IMG_2936.jpg You can see it here at the top of the window frame in the picture below, the cladding does not slot into the window frame leaving a 'gap'. http://home.exetel.com.au/snippy/images/house/141109/IMG_2957.jpg The groove doesn't appear to meet up in the corner, probably a 5mm difference, given that there is such a big deep groove in this cladding, I find it very annoying to look at when the corner does not match up. Shown here, front face on the right is lower than side face on the left. This probably is the most annoying bit of it for me. http://home.exetel.com.au/snippy/images/house/131109/IMG_2932.jpg It looks like it was cut with a grinder or something, the sides of it aren't straight like they would be if the correct bladed saw was used to cut through them. Shown in this pic. http://home.exetel.com.au/snippy/images/house/131109/IMG_2939.jpg Some of it is damaged in places. After being told over and over again that this stuff is tonka tough, hit cricket balls against it, ra ra ra, for it to turn up damaged is quite annoying. Just chips and chunks here and there, but still, annoying! Please comment, feel free to be brutally honest. This is our big chance to build our home right. Cheers, Bogrolls I'm putting a new floor in my kitchen, slate flagging on a standard concrete slab. I have allowed for a bed thickness of up to 20mm to accommodate the different… 0 17756 They using concrete or timber sleepers? Timber or steel uprights?
