Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 14, 2009 2:56 pm Hi all - Ive been following alot of peoples threads for the last few weeks and love seeing the updates - but I get so impatient for photos. I thought Id wait until I had a fair whack of photos before making my own thread!
We are building with PJ Burns in Beerwah- and I couldnt say enough good things about them. I get weekly calls from our SS to "just touch base and check if you have any questions", sales guy calls us every now and again to check up on us too. Phone calls & emails are always returned same day (usually in a few hours) and to top it all off.. there has only been 2-3 days since our site scrape where nothing has happened on our block! Seems to be a very organised team. We are thrilled to bits with how fast it has all been happening. For a million more photos check out our blog - but basically for a quick run down .. here we go ! The dates might be a bit off because there was time between taking pics and posting on blog - but they are close enough 10-Sep Site Scrape Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 14-Sep Plumbing went in 15-Sep Footings for the slab were done 16-Sep More slab preparation, ready for concrete 17-Sep Slab poured Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 19-Sep Frame went up Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 23-Sep Roof Frame went on Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 24-Sep Colorbond went on Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 28-Sep By this date, the roof was done, windows were in, wall wrap was done, external doors in Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 30-Sep Sparkies finished their first round of work, including all the normal stuff, plus a million miles of data cabling, extra lights, and other bits and pieces 3-Oct plasters went bananas and suddenly we had walls! Looks fantastic Whoever installed our kitchen put a notice on the benchtop during the build that said "Unless you can afford to pay DO NOT put your tools on this bench". Seemed to work, we didn't end up with any scratches! Dont have pics of the interior yet.. but the exterior has begun. I think its still waiting on a second coat. Note we only got a skim coat render.. which is somewhere in between bag and paint and a full render. Not as expensive as a full render but looks better than bag n paint (IMO) Photos make it look alot brighter than it actually is.. looks white.. but is actually a "grey-white" .. Re: Our House Build with PJ Burns [KITCHEN IS IN !! - new pics] 18Oct 23, 2009 10:24 am Some of the concrete is done ... all the stuff thats plain and not the agg Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Pad for the gas bottles and going from garage door to laundry door Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ oh and the exterior has been finished.. and no I dont like the colour Hoping that when we get some green in there and our kick ar$e fence.. it will balance out the 'starkness' of the colour. The fence Im very excited about. Have been researching and requesting quotes and making phone calls about fences for at least 6 weeks now. Finally stumbled on to a local guy who can provide exactly what we want. Its expensive.. but its quality and will last for years.. and I think add alot of value to the house. The double gate will be very similar to this.. and the rest of the fence (only on the street frontage side) will be matching. Lol all we need is another dust storm and that will change it plenty haha Hopefully it will grow on me. And Im sure with fence in and some green around it wont look so bad. Im just a real hater of beige and brown.. ! so we went with real greys/whites charcoal throughout our house. And I shall have to start buying some nice rugs and other bits and pieces in bright colours to get some colour into the place. 9 24816 Hey everyone Not for me or anyone I know, just generally interested.
