Re: My buckingham palace - all moved in!!! 10Sep 20, 2008 3:49 pm Congrats Brittany, looking great. Looks like we wont overtake you now. Its been three weeks since our slab and no framework yet. Will call builder on Monday to ask about it. He initially told us that they would start the frame in a few days after the slab was poured.
I can't wait to see your floorplans, looks quite different to ours. Re: My buckingham palace - all moved in!!! 11Sep 20, 2008 9:08 pm Okay St Kilda are being thrashed so I'm happy to fix the pictures instead. Joices are now joists ( I typed joices into the internet and had a few hits and never looked further - moral of the story - thousands of others on the internet can't spell either)! Mel and Em if you pm me an email I will email you the floorplans. You know where I live anyway!! Fi has moved in!! Re: My buckingham palace - all moved in!!! 12Sep 20, 2008 9:11 pm And turned up at block today to have my daily perv and there is a padlock on the gate - we are locked out. I hope it wasn't put there because someone is stealing something. Fi has moved in!! Re: My buckingham palace - all moved in!!! 14Sep 23, 2008 11:24 am Oooohhhhh I love the cellar and bar areas off the living/dining...... ooohhhh!!!!
Brittany... just as a matter of interest, will you fit the bar out using the same laminates and benchtops as the kitchen? I'm adding a bar after handover (all the plumbing will be out in with the build) and I'm wondering whether to do it the same as the kitchen.. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: My buckingham palace - all moved in!!! 15Sep 23, 2008 11:31 am The lounge/dining is actually hubby's home theatre. The builder will do the barfit out but at the time of all the plans and such we had no idea what we wanted so it was left off drawings - and good reminder we still haven't done it. I am not fussed about matching it to the kitchen as the theatre will be very separate and quite dark although our kitchen will be too by most peoples standards. I was looking for some old wood for the front of it and maybe caesarstone on top. The builder is doing all the electrical and plumbing. This is hubby's domain not mine so it probably won't matter what I want. He is declaring it a kid and cat free zone - hes got no chance. The bar has a window straight out to the alfresco. It creates a nice little outside area outside the laundry which is handy for drying clothes. Very good idea.
Was there any particular reason you flipped the rear of the second story? Ours has the main bathroom behind our ensuite, Yours has the bathroom behind the master bedroom. Also, what flooring are you having on your balcony? Our ground floor frame went up today. Really cool to actually walk through the house from room to room. Re: My buckingham palace - all moved in!!! 17Sep 23, 2008 9:13 pm Wow, you've finally started!
I like your bricks.. very nice with the off-white mortar. Also, the floor joist looks different from ours... yours look like made of timber and steel? Once the 1st floor is up, you'll be more excited! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: My buckingham palace - all moved in!!! 18Sep 23, 2008 10:09 pm Thanks VJ - I love our bricks - I have been nervous for ever about them but now seeing them taking shape I am very happy. I keep driving past to admire them. I don't know why our floor joists have steel in them or if that is a good thing or a bad thing. They look very sturdy. I just went back months........ in your blog to see your joists (you show me yours and I'll show you mine) and I forgot how many hurdles you guys had and to think you are nearly nearly done. Re: My buckingham palace - all moved in!!! 20Sep 23, 2008 10:20 pm Congrats Mel and Em on your ground floor frame - it is exciting isn't it walking through it. Our driveway is on the left side of the house so we flipped the bottom half of the house. We also wanted our alfresco on that side as we get a view from even the ground floor but only on that side. That puts the stairs on the right side of the house upstairs but we wanted our balcony to come off the "library" on the right side as we get quite a view out the back from that side. If we put the balcony on the other side we'd be looking right at our neighbours and I'm sure they and us wouldn't be so thrilled. Took a lot of playing and thinking but we eventually came up with the right solution. NBG actually were very helpful with this. The little area outside the laundry will probably end up shade clothed in for a cat run. I should have changed the laundry door to one I could have put a cat door in. Still thinking hard for a solution. We actually chose the floor design particularly so that we could put the bar and cellar where the side alfresco was. I found the plan on the internet - drove straight to Tarneit walked through and was sold when told yes could build it in. We were so close to signing with a custom builder but weren't that happy with the plan WE had come up with. Fi has moved in!! Joe, it depends on your certifier but we are noticing the ones we deal with are really cracking down. So i would recommend you follow your approved landscaping plans to… 4 10965 Hi Simeon, Thank you for laying it down for us. Makes sense. Appreciate it very much. Have a nice day.
