Plus a shell of a house with stuff inside ! Re: Serenity's Building Thread - A cottage with a view 42Oct 28, 2009 1:21 am Hi Candylea Yes, it will be great to see the roof go on. We have chosen Colorbond Bushland and had to ask special permission for this colour from the developers - what a pain! - it was not on the list of approved colours for houses overlooking the park 18/06/09 Pre-Start / 18/09/09 Slab / 05/10/09 Brickwork / 21/10/09 Roof / 11/12/09 Lock-up 18/02/10 PCI 04/03/10 HANDOVER My Building Thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=24789 Re: Serenity's Building Thread - A cottage with a view 43Oct 28, 2009 1:27 am Seems like you have many rules to abide by being part of a park.. we didn't have anything like that, only thing was it had to be at least 180sqm living area. Re: Serenity's Building Thread - A cottage with a view 44Oct 28, 2009 8:41 am If you are weird then we are weirder, the colors on the roof look a bit different on the roofs, so we have been picking up bits from the rubbish piles to see what the color is. Viewed it and it was love at first sight. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a block to suit in an area I was after, then ended up finding an established house that felt right so didn't end up building. But seeing your thread has given me huuuuge jealous pangs! And I mean that in a nice way! I own 2 dogs and would love a house overlooking a park, my dogs would love it even more! It is very beautiful to look at. And you're building my dream house, AND meeting your neighbours! I wouldn't have a clue who my neighbours are because it's an old established area and the people aren't the friendliest There's always a sense of community when you build in a new area, I remember that as a kid when my parents built, instant friends with the neighbours right from building stage. I'll be sure to check back on your building thread to see the LTC progress What I loved most about the LTC was the front elevation and the massive WIR!! Loved how it went down a little hallway and then the bathroom was off to the side. Never was a fan of ensuites with no door, but this was designed just right that it didn't need a door. Perfect! Sigh, hopefully one day I will build Re: Serenity's Cottage with a view - Roof frame started! 53Nov 05, 2009 7:52 pm Thanks Katie81. I have seen a few LTC's around so we are not the only one's who love the design and layout. Some have altered elevations to the front, alfresco's, study's added and different size windows just to make them a bit different. We were thinking of adding a doorway to the en-suite at first and maybe some doors to the front lounge but we like the flow of the house so decided not to change it. We did however add a door to the laundry 18/06/09 Pre-Start / 18/09/09 Slab / 05/10/09 Brickwork / 21/10/09 Roof / 11/12/09 Lock-up 18/02/10 PCI 04/03/10 HANDOVER My Building Thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=24789 Re: Serenity's Cottage with a view - Roof frame started! 54Nov 05, 2009 8:22 pm You already know about my fondness for the LTC Serenity... so I won't tell you again how much I really love and adore the LTC and its shape and the rooms and the layout and how its a beautiful home viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! I was going to get the long windows (technical name of those escapes me), render, gables and colorbond roof to make it look as close as I could. The only blocks I could find were rear ones, and noone would have been able to see my pretty LTC if I had a rear block! The only thing lacking from the LTC was an alfresco, and the Easy Start one I chose had one so I almost had the best of both worlds. Wasn't meant to be! Loving my house though, I'm renovating (an old renovated house was always my first choice anyways, no idea how the LTC stole my heart so much!) OK, I shall stop rambling, this is your thread, not mine! Re: Serenity's Cottage with a view - Roof frame started! 57Nov 06, 2009 12:48 am Thanks Jodie and Kirsada, we are pleased with the progress so far! Hi Katie81, when we were first looking at Display Homes we had a different block of land in mind and the Sales Lady at New Gen said it was possible to change the LTC to have the garage at the front. We decided against the Alfresco option as it would have eaten into the size of the Living/Dining area. We may add one on at a later stage but in the meantime we will have some cover over the courtyard area to the rear (not sure but sails are the top option at the moment)...And no, you are not hijacking my thread, so don't worry 18/06/09 Pre-Start / 18/09/09 Slab / 05/10/09 Brickwork / 21/10/09 Roof / 11/12/09 Lock-up 18/02/10 PCI 04/03/10 HANDOVER My Building Thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=24789 Re: Serenity's Cottage with a view - Roof frame started! 58Nov 06, 2009 12:54 am I think what makes the LTC is the fact that the garage isn't on the front. It's just so cute as is! I didn't hunt for cottage blocks that would fit it as is, as I was after a block in an established suburb with some character homes. Cottage blocks don't exist there, mainly just rear blocks. But if I had come across a park facing cottage block like yours in a new estate, I would have sold every belonging I own to make it mine! I think next time, I might build, so I can experience a build for myself! Re: Serenity's Cottage with a view - and a ROOF! 60Nov 06, 2009 10:55 pm Yes Candylea, we do indeed have a roof. I went to the block on the way home from work and found that that the tradies have been pretty busy this week. The electrician and plumber have been in and the carpenters have finished putting the roof on - see pics! View from the park: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OnO_iOLz2fs/S ...
