Thanks I'm not sure M offers air con but they quoted us almost $5000 for evaporative cooling unit. We shopped around and got cheaper quotes so we are not going ahead with M. Thanks upgraders. Definately something to think about for after handover. Re: M3tric0n Homes 75Nov 09, 2009 9:51 pm our ducted a/c was 14k. On a 2 storey kinda impossible to do later though Built Liberty 42 - Handover 26th Feb 2010 forum thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17243 Re: M3tric0n Homes 76Nov 09, 2009 10:21 pm 4 star ducted heating + cooling (Bonaire B430IX/A), 5 zones, 16 outlets = ~$15,900... Not convinced it was 100% competitive, but wanted it done before we moved in! Re: M3tric0n Homes 78Nov 10, 2009 6:52 pm sarahl hi upgraders, thanks for all your work on this thread! may I please ask, and feel free to PM me - what did you roughly manage to get your cooling down to? Just want to know if our budget is realistic! TIA!! Hi Sarah We got some quotes and they range from $3500 to $4000. The price is dependent on the number of points throughout the house and star ratings. In addition to the evaporative unit throughtout the house, we are going to get 2 split systems. In my opinion it works out cheaper to buy and run the unit and split systems rather than spending 15k for air con throughout the house. Personal preference i guess. ---------------- upgraders Bel-Air 37 : Contemporary Fascade (Major Interior Makeover) Re: M3tric0n Homes 79Nov 11, 2009 7:47 am Totally agree. We bought 1 x 8.6KW for the living room and 1 x 2.7KW for the bed room. The 8.6kw completely cools the living room, kitchen, formal dinning and formal living room plus it blows in the direction of the air intake of the central heating. So you just put that on "cool" and it picks up the ait con air and circulates through out the house. It works quiet well. Air cons were about $2800.00 and installation was $1080.00. Plus I personally don’t like evaporative cooling as you have to keep some doors ajar for it to work properly. But that’ just me. Re: M3tric0n Homes 80Nov 29, 2009 8:13 am Hi guys We are doing heating and cooling after handover Big M quoted us just over $5.5k for Evap cooling to 5 outlets, we wanted an extra 4 outlets and the price went over $8k. So we looked at add-on cooling and we were told we could be looking at just under $20k. So we decided to do both after handover and we took off the contract the 3star heater which comes standard and they credited us around $2.4k in memory. But we are having all the previsions installed by Big M for the heater and Evap cooling if we change our mind and go for the Evap. By doing this after handover we can save around $8k - $10k on heating and add on cooling.
