Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 12, 2009 3:40 pm Hello everyone Was wondering if anyone could recommend a Company in Melbourne who will custom build a WIR fitout at a reasonable cost, I have seen some WIR on this forum which are big enough to fit my entire house in. I am just after hanging rails and some draw space, as I am thinking to tell my builder to just basically build the room and hopefully get a credit back for the shelf and hanging rail they were going to put in - I did ask for a price from my builder to move the shelf up higher as we are having 9ft ceilings and to be a double rail in - of which I was told it would be an additional $250 for a hanging rail. Any help would be appreciated. Site Start: 10th September, 2010 PCI : Friday 27th January, 2011. Try Flexirobes in Thomastown - we'll probably use them for our robe fit-outs when we eventually get around to them. We've had custom shower screens and mirrors from them in the past and the quality is good, they're reliable and price-wise they compare well. http://www.flexirobes.com.au/ If you want to compare quotes, you could try these too: http://www.premiumoz.com.au/wardrobes.htm http://www.regencyscreens.com.au/products/wardrobes/internals/gallery/ (I got quotes from these guys in the past, and they were a bit pricey, but there are some good ideas on their website) Re: WIR Fitout - Melbourne 4Oct 20, 2009 8:56 am We used Premium a couple of years ago and were very happy with them. They were very reasonable and good quality. We spent around $800 for our WIR and got double hanging space, shelving at top, full length shoe shelves, 4 drawers and more shelves above. Just curious; I'm trying to budget for about a billion things, and I really want my robes done. Mmm, shoe shelves.... Re: WIR Fitout - Melbourne 6Oct 20, 2009 9:36 am Hi, We have recently got quotes for this - to put internal fitouts in the robes (so not a WIR as such). We got a recommendation from a friend for Inner Space and then compared their quote to a couple of others. We are getting them out this week to measure properly and do the job soon. At this stage just changing the master which is currently 4 sliding doors with just shelf and rail - to add in drawer/shelf units, double hanging and some full hanging. Cost for white about $1100. Also going to change the room we use for the study and replace with all shelves and drawers, including two filing drawers, also $1100 for initial quote. I think they also do other finished etc. Also had quote from Versa robes which was similar pricing. But yeah, looking at the $1000 - $2000 range.. www.ikea.com/au/en Builder: Me*tricon Homes Design: Freedom Range, Santorini 26 Handover Date: 12th February 2010 Homeone Thread: viewtopic.php?t=22216 Blogspot: http://www.evolvedmonkey-santorini26.blogspot.com Re: WIR Fitout - Melbourne 8Oct 20, 2009 11:23 am Thank you to all for your recommendations, I have received a quote from Flexirobes in Thomastown, faxed thru my plans and they came back to me same day with a quote, very reasonable, my wir is only small 2000 mtrs on one side and about 1300 on the other and my quote was for approx $650 in melamine shelving. I also rang Wardrobe World in Bundoora and received a quote for approx. $350 in the metal basket type and shelves. I have also rang Regency but they have not got back to me as yet. Shall try Premium next. Just another question - has anyone used the basket type arrangement in their fitouts, my other half thinks it will leave marks on the clothes that are in the draws and god knows dont want to iron any more than I have to. I don't know about marks, but I'd want to see samples of them first. Cheap ones don't slide smoothly, and the frames can be a bit wonky. As long as they're reasonable quality, they'd be OK - but remember that you can't put small items in them, they'd fall straight through. And buttons, buckles etc get caught in the baskets too. Re: WIR Fitout - Melbourne 10Oct 20, 2009 12:52 pm kek - our wardrobe was about 2 metres long, and 1.5 wide I think (it is in our old place so can't measure it). So on the long side we had about 1.2 metres of double hanging, and about 80 cm wide of 4 drawers and shelves up to the top shelf. On the back wall we had double hanging almost to the end. Then on the side wall where the door opened on to (no hanging there, just blank wall) I had about 1 metre wide of floor to top shelf of shelves for shoes etc. It was all in white melamine and was very sturdy and the drawers slid well. Will be doing similar in our new place once it is finished. I worked out that this was 3 years ago, so probably gone up a bit. Re: WIR Fitout - Melbourne 11Oct 20, 2009 3:44 pm Hi Guys! This is what I'd like to do with our wardrobes. . . Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Double rail, double rail, drawers with shelves, single low rail with shelves above, single high rail. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Double rail, double rail, drawers with shelves, double rail. Then. . . to the right of the door, I'd like shelves for shoes (approximately 1m wide by 35cm deep). We're planning on doing it ourselves. I've had a quote on the materials for about $2K, but I think I overengineered it a little, so I'll probably cut back on some thicknesses and save some money. I've found flatpack drawers from Bunnings that look suitable. . . they're only $159 a set. The rest should be pretty easy. Does anyone know of a good (and cheap) wardrobe fitter in Sydney that I could get a quote from? Re: WIR Fitout - Melbourne 12Jan 29, 2010 2:05 pm Versa Robes has similar pricing with other well-known wardrobes companies (such as, premium oz, stegbar and high craft solution) but quality of the product is a lot poorer. The final decision is really in your hand Re: WIR Fitout - Melbourne 13Jan 29, 2010 2:21 pm We got our windows from Stegbar and hope that they will give us a good price for all our Built ins and the walk-in/through. *fingers crossed* I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 35772 It's all about wireless, self install now.
