Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 07, 2009 7:58 am Our footings were poured with the wrong strength concrete to begin with as they screwed up and used the wrong strength concrete. After the pour the concrete was only left for 4 days before they drove over it with a 7 tonne excavator to cut out the trenches for the pipes, is this common practice as i thought it would take a little longer to cure, also the concrete being 5-10 mpa weaker than specs would increase the time taken to harden due to the higher water to concrete ratio. Re: How long after pour can you drive on footings with excavtor 2Oct 07, 2009 9:25 am concrete generally is at full strength at 28 days.. that said, not too sure on how many days before this it would be strong enough to drive a 7T excavator over.. also, if they have put in concrete that isnt to spec i'd speak to your engineer as there may be some issues later on down track.. i'd personally be getting the OK from them before proceeding Re: How long after pour can you drive on footings with excavtor 3Oct 07, 2009 9:59 am We've told the engineer about the concrete and he said there should be no long term problems with the strength but I only just checked the photos and dates for the pipes excavation so haven't told them about that. it's alot of weight to have on them. some others iv'e seen have suggested 7 days at least for a slab to be driven on but thats for a slab and theres not much info on footings.
