Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anybody built the same house as someone else in the street? 21Oct 06, 2009 8:03 pm One of the builders we considered building with told us they had had to create a dozen more new facades. They had sold so many houses in the area & they refused to let the same house with the same facade be built in any street. They figured it would make their buildings look common ? Have to admit too - we have seen many of their signs around but once the build is done & the sign removed, you wouldnt know they are the same floor plan & from the same builder! Re: Anybody built the same house as someone else in the street? 22Oct 06, 2009 8:10 pm There are several of the same plan in our street, 2 of them are identical bricks, windows, roof tiles and there is only one vacant lot between the two. Oh well, ours will be unique Re: Anybody built the same house as someone else in the street? 23Oct 06, 2009 8:19 pm [JADED] (next time gadget - next time!!) That's where your avatar is from! I knew I'd seen it before. Back to the subject though. In my estate only one builder can do house and land packages. Four slabs up at the moment with signage, three slabs look identical .Only one other house from my builder, not my design though. Gravity. Its the law. I also love the ensuite....HUGE again. The townhouse we lived in were all the same plan & it did feel strange visiting the neighbour...same but different. One neighbour changed a lot of things from the original plan & I was always thinking why didn't we do that! The house we are building now has also been built in our estate but it is in stage one...not near us & that house is rendered & ours won't be (thanks to them relaxing the covenants). In Ireland, almost every house in the estates are identical. I've attached a picture of my street and there are several hundred other houses in my estate that are almost identical, if not identical! I can't wait until I return to australia one day and build my own individual house! http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d198/ ... 278039.jpg Meldives Re: Anybody built the same house as someone else in the street? 26Oct 07, 2009 6:15 am Meldives, that's cute...looks like a doll's house village or something. But yeah, it's nice to have some individuality. We have plenty of that.... Funny thing is, we built the display home facade, but the other Bridgeports in our estate (3) all chose different ones. Re: Anybody built the same house as someone else in the street? 27Oct 07, 2009 7:11 am In our estate there are so many similar houses with the same facade just different colours (no offense to anyone just my opinion). There are two houses being built near our block and they are two different houses but they have very similar bricks and same colour gutters, facia, windows and downpipes. If this was happening to me I would be fuming We’ve gone for a facade which was quite expensive, with knowing that no one would choose the same facade due to cost(fingers & toes r crossed). It looks like we could be the only house in the stage to have this facade as there are only a few empty blocks of land that are waiting for ppl to start building, and we are one of the last ppl to build on our street and our design was passed by our estate Builder; Big M Design; Soho 32 Facade; Ascent Blog; http://mickeyb-soho.blogspot.com Trend; viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23990 Re: Anybody built the same house as someone else in the street? 28Oct 07, 2009 7:47 am [quote="kek"]Meldives, that's cute...looks like a doll's house village or something. Before I settled here, I did some travelling around Ireland with my mum and we used to joke about the houses all being the same and that the only thing different about them was the colour of the door. We reasoned that they did this as was the only way you knew which house was yours after a big night on the guiness We then started to hatch an evil plan of swapping the doors around So when I found a house to live in the first thing my mum asked was 'what colour is the door!' I had to dissapoint her and tell her it was stained glass and exactly the same as every other house in the street. I'd love to build an 'Australian' house in Ireland but I don't think it would get past the council and their design approval (which is sorely lacking IMHO) Hi all. I'm thinking of installing an electric gate in front of this street front villa (link below). The gate would be between the bush on the left and the letter box on… 0 2778 Thanks! I'm spoke to the builder I'm not sure if this is all true but basically went along the lines of they considered all options and if I was to compact and fill it… 2 7307 A survey must’ve completed by a certified surveyor.
