Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 05, 2009 4:14 pm I'm building with HBC in WA and they will not allow any variations what so ever after pre-start which is a pain in a backside. I now would like to put in an additional TV point in bedroom 1 and a conduit for foxtel in the living otherwise if i put in foxtel later they will need to put in on the side wall and i'll have a long cable across my living. I've asked HBC for the additional points but they said no and they said also I can't get my own electrician in to do it either. Does anyone know if this is the case or can I just get a sparky to come in put in the TV point/conduit? What could HBC do if I just went ahead and did this? Personally i'd just wait till the house was completed and then get a sparky to put in the plugs for you. This is pretty much what i'll be doing! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: getting a sparky to put in some extras 3Oct 05, 2009 7:11 pm I don't know, I think you could be in breach of your contract if you get them to come in without permission?? I would definately read through your contract again before deciding to go ahead. We are in the same boat, absolutely no changes after pre-start with our builder either. Re: getting a sparky to put in some extras 4Oct 05, 2009 7:17 pm Oh, I forgot, I don't suppose there is a wardrobe or linen closet on the other side of the wall that you need TV point/conduit is there? In that case you can get an external conduit run down that wall and fed through to the other side. The external conduit isn't going to look pretty, but if its inside a cupboard it won't matter. We are going to do this for one of our phone points. Re: getting a sparky to put in some extras 5Oct 05, 2009 8:18 pm I think you will have to wait till handover. They are very strict with stuff, I rang the same day as prestart to get a phone point in my bedroom and they wouldn't do it without charging me their damn $250 variation fee so I told em to keep it.
