Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 04, 2009 6:50 pm Just what I needed. Not. We've got a 10,000 litre underground tank, and it appears that they didn't compact the dirt when they backfilled around it. I'll have to wait until Tuesday to see whether the builder will fix it or not. And all this comes when the turf was starting to grow nice, long roots. Sigh. Too late for photos now, but I'll try and take some tomorrow. Judie Re: My front yard has caved in! 3Oct 04, 2009 8:35 pm Don't stress Judie. Soil subsidence is normal where it has been disturbed and pipes/tanks etc laid. It wouldn't be proper to go hammer and tongs to compact the soil on to a freshly installed underground tank in a heavy manner. Nature has taken its course and I'm sure the builder will top it up. I've seen it before and it's not usually a big deal. Relax! Geoff - Decophile. Re: My front yard has caved in! 4Oct 04, 2009 11:02 pm If backfilled properly there should have been minimal subsidence but the reality they don't. I wouldn't be placing anything like turf untill you've had some good rain (which is probably what you've had.) BTW proper backfilling should be done in layers and compacted, a bit of water and no vegetation. Under driveways they should use crushed rock. there should be ss cable so you can pull up bore pump for service 1 3118 can someone with more experience give me their insight? land is pretty much flat its pretty much at the top of a hill. left and right neighbours are flat in line with my… 0 7445 2 4344 |
