Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 13, 2009 3:07 pm Has anyone heard of the washing machine taps going in the laundry cupboards in new houses? I am building with m3tric0n and have just realised there are no washing machine taps in the laundry. I rang csc to be told that the taps are are in the cupboard under the sink. I've checked the plans and yep there under the sink. Wish I had of realised before I signed the contract. I've always made sure my taps are turned off before I leave the house, just in case they leak!! Oh what a pain Re: position of laundry taps 2Oct 13, 2009 3:35 pm We modified our taps to be outside the cabinet above the W/M because we also want to be able to turn off the taps easily. Had plenty of experiences when I was growing up of my mum's washing machine flooding the laundry! Check in with your SS when you start building and you should be able to get the taps moved (also if you haven't started construction yet, you should be able to make a note when your construction drawings are done (can be different to your contract drawings) Tim Knockdown and rebuild - building Metr1con Nolan 41 (43) @ http://tim-and-tina.blogspot.com! http://www.verdantdental.com.au Re: position of laundry taps 3Oct 13, 2009 3:41 pm Thanks Tim, but my house is nearly finished just one of those things that I didn't pick up but really wish I did. I suppose I just assumed that they would be above the washing machine. I have never heard of them being put anywhere else. I'm also dissappointed that I paid extra for a larger laundry cupboard and now I have taps in the way! Re: position of laundry taps 4Oct 13, 2009 3:46 pm Many are now put inside the cabinet similar to a kitchen except servicing sink and washing machine ( 2 hot and colds) rather than 2 cold and 1 hot. A sink mixer is then used with the laundry tub as well. It looks much much neater Re: position of laundry taps 6Oct 13, 2009 3:56 pm It's also better if you have a front loader/dryer stacked one on top of the other. It's a bit hard to reach the taps behind those monsters in an emergency.... Wish we'd put ours in the cupboard. It's a bit hard to reach the taps behind those monsters in an emergency.... Wish we'd put ours in the cupboard. This is what we have and in the rental we are in now, the washer/dryer stick out too much because of the taps in the way, at least with them under the cupboards, we can push it back against the wall and it will look neater. Re: position of laundry taps 9Oct 13, 2009 4:45 pm Ours are in the laundry cupboard, with a hole drilled in the side to put the hoses through. The only problem with ours is that the powerpoint was supposed to go in there too but they forgot and put it down low on the wall. The washing machine now sticks our more than I would have liked, not the end of the world but a tad annoying. Having the taps in the cupboard makes the laundry look more streamlined and neater. Bathroom renovation will likely include a back-to-corner bath and we’re considering a freestanding tap with hand-held shower such as the picture included. My hesitation… 0 24748 Agreed. I just found out today the certifier has not given the final sign off. 2 4123 Hey all, Hoping for some inspiration for my bathroom laundry combo. The tiles are in good condition, as is the bathtub. I’ve given it a coat of white paint and added… 0 14162 |
