Re: PLEASE RE-VOTE for: Homeone's Favourite VICTORIAN Builder 44Oct 08, 2009 6:41 am Salt&PepperMkII But remember guys, we are voting for a general builder, not a house plan. You may think that, but that's not the reality. The majority of people build the house plan that suits them and then makes changes. How can you have a preferred builder if you haven't built with them so I don't get why people can select two options when the majority on here have only built once. I also don't get how Carlisle can have so many votes when there is only a small handful of people on here building with them I spose that's a separate issue though... BTW, I'm not voting cos every time you reset or change anything to do with the poll, it will reset and then there will be another DFL situation and we all need to revote. The other criteria..said this on the other thread but anyhow.. customer service, standard inclusions, overpricing, contract/build delays if any, financial stability of builder (think Marshall Baker etc) and so on. lisanne Salt&PepperMkII But remember guys, we are voting for a general builder, not a house plan. But would you build the perfect house plan if the standard inclusions, customer service, value and so on, were bad?? That may be a sacrifice. People sure can vote for two builders, if you read the OP, I said who you WOULD choose to build with if you didnt build with the same company. Not necessarily saying that people have built twice. Have a look at the Carlisle general info thread in my signature. Look at the OP, there are plenty of members on here building with them. It will be of quite a surprise to you. There are currently 10 votes for Carlisle, thats about right to me, considering the Carlisle member list. I have only (accidentally) reset the poll once, sorry for any inconveniences. With or without your vote in the poll, I dont mind. Re: PLEASE RE-VOTE for: Your Favourite VICTORIAN Builder 46Oct 08, 2009 7:53 pm The reason that we didn't build with Carlisle is because someone I know had an awful experience with them throughout their whole build. And the icing on the cake was that their floor tiles had a flaw through them so the whole lot had to be ripped up and replaced after handover, meaning a huge inconvenience for them. I am not saying that PD (or any other large volume builder) don't have customers who had an awful experience too, but because of this one person's experience it was enough to put us off from even walking into a Carlisle display home. Thanks for your reply Hels. That sort of explains my point. Building delays, rumours... can contribute to our opinion of a particular builder. Re: PLEASE RE-VOTE for: Your Favourite VICTORIAN Builder 49Oct 08, 2009 9:09 pm Of course we have got to shortlist builders which we wont build with.. But the other end of the argument.. shortlisting which ones we might build with..impacted by builders financial stability, customer service, standard inclusions and value. Re: PLEASE RE-VOTE for: Your Favourite VICTORIAN Builder 51Oct 09, 2009 6:46 am An interesting vote as it doesn't line up with the real figures published by the HIA. I wonder if it's skewed by the demographics of Homeone... or are people too embarrassed to say 1 Metricon 2 Henley & 3 Simonds... etc... Henley will be number one, apparently. Okay......whats a chump? chump (plural chumps) 1. (US, slang) the opposite of a champ; a loser Don't be such a chump. 2. the smaller of two bullies I'll take on that chump, and you fight the other one. 3. (pejorative) an unintelligent person; a blockhead That chump wouldn't know his *** from a hole in the ground. 4. a gullible person; a sucker; someone easily taken advantage of; the target of a scam It shouldn't be hard to put one over on that chump. 5. someone lacking good sense - especially considered so for being scrupulous or unselfish What a chump! He could have kept that money! Re: PLEASE RE-VOTE for: Your Favourite VICTORIAN Builder 58Oct 09, 2009 5:10 pm Erin, Im astonished. Did you create those meanings yourself??
