Hi David,
I've had a think about this and a play about in paint.net. I've come up with this layout:

Note this image is based on a slightly more recent plan (as mentioned in a previous post - bed 4 door location has changed) but nothing that will affect this layout.
It's a nice little area but it's a bit of a struggle with so many doorways, including the door to the linen cupboard (which I have shifted into the end Bed 3's robe). Linen cupboard is also a bit smaller.
The area could be also pushed out by 1m or so into the internal deck area but that would alter the size of the house, requiring council re-approval.
Also this might sound odd, but I like the simple, straight lines of the existing layout. yes, I know I will be spending most of my time living in the house, not looking at a picture of the plan! But there are significant benefits to construction cost with the existing layout. Example - the three robes, bookshelf and games cupboard are all the same width, and obvious the three robes are the same depth and bookshelf/linen/games cbd the same depth.
I will mention it to the architect and see what he thinks ... hopefully he won't cringe at a late change! And of course I am very appreciative of the suggestion even if we don't end up using it!
Note, the internal deck (which will have a sliding door from the hall) will be an exclusive childrens play area. Not good for wet weather of course, but it is "theirs"!
I expect the architect/builder would have planned for this, but I will check with them to make sure!
