Wondering roughly the cost of doing this? We have extended our garage to just over 2 metres for around 10k. The rear roller door is $266. Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 4567Jan 08, 2014 9:20 pm PansLabyrinth Hi Bakso, We have had evap for nearly 10 years in our old home. It worked quite well, and this was for a single storey. We just moved to our double storey about 5 weeks ago built by carlisle. This does have evap as well. With regards to how it works and if it would cause mould etc This isn't true, all you will need to do is open a window downstairs so that air circulates to the bottom floor. You will find the bottom floor will not heat up much at all. I spoke to the Air Con installer about the above issues, and he described evap as combusting air, so you will need to open windows. Depending on the size of your home, you will need to perhaps open 2-3 windows upstairs, and one big window downstairs so it all circulates. Also, you can try this to gain an understanding. Turn on your evap and go into a room with a vent. Close the door and wait about 30 seconds. Try opening the door again. You will not be able to easily open it as its causing pressure. This pressure needs to be released and this is what would be causing the 'mould' and everything described below. Its personal preference really, but in the long run, I think the evap is better. Also think about how many actual hot days we get in Melbourne per year. I am estimating perhaps 10-15 days if we're lucky. Good news! Thanks for the info Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 4568Jan 08, 2014 11:06 pm Bakso PansLabyrinth Hi Bakso, We have had evap for nearly 10 years into our old home. Thanks for the info My parents' place is double storey (built on a hill), and to be fair, the house is nowhere near the quality of the new houses nowadays. For starters there's no airflow to downstairs, so all the moisture stayed upstairs and there's no insulation whatsoever, plus a black roof. All those things combined has made even a 28oC day almost unbearably hot. But their evap experience just scares me. It comes down to personal opinion and taste. Two of my friends are building with CH and they're getting evap without being worried about mould. One's double storey and the other's a single storey.Judging by Pans' experience, sounds like you'll be right. It sounds like it just needs the proper air ventilation to work effectively. Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 4570Jan 09, 2014 6:30 am Hi smcintyre What was the upgrade cost for glass balustrade staircase and for which double storey house? (I think its the same product they use for the balconus) I'm thinking about having glass (loooks so much nicer & has a modern look) instead of the stainness steel or timber !!! Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 4573Jan 09, 2014 11:06 am Hi alexvi5 Thats a bit much..the extention ( according to the option on their website) is only minor though, but thanks anyway. Handy to know though!! Thanks foe that Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 4575Jan 09, 2014 12:08 pm Im a little confused.. that amount seems excessive. The extention to makethe roofline wider by 1m and 1m in depth so that the roof lines up on the theatre room and kitchen side Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 4577Jan 10, 2014 1:32 pm Just a couple of questions (can probably get them answered next week at our colour selection anyway): -how many powerpoints are included as standard? Everything says that double powerpoints are included throughout, but it doesn't say how many? - what is the rough build time from site start to finish? I've heard varying things across different forums, I know it can depend on other factors such as resources and availability, but what's the rough average? Thanks! Amanda Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 4578Jan 10, 2014 1:38 pm Standard Powerpoints vary from home to home, however should be on your plans. My sales consultant gave me all the plans when I paid my deposit - I then annotated with my additions. As a guide though, there was 1x double in bedrooms, 2 in the master and theater/rumpus/living, plus a few others in places such as fridge space, laundry, microwave provision etc etc. Build time my sales consultant told me max of 5 months for my single story, but these forums seem to indicate builds being completed much quicker. I'd recommend going in with a good idea of colours etc to your selection, we went in with our electrical, flooring and tiles decided with a good idea of bricks and had it done in less than 2 hours. Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 4579Jan 10, 2014 1:44 pm Thanks for that, I've had a look at the plans we've been given, so these are standard then? Seems to be more than I expected 5 months max - that's super quick! We've been told a site start somewhere between March and May, depending on when our land titles ...waiting waiting waiting... We have a fair good idea on colours and fixtures - we decided on quite a bit at our colour browse, and have since done a bit more research as we changed our mind (couldn't decide on render to go with the brick we originally chose, so are changing the brick now!) Thank goodness the girls at Spectra are so patient! Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 4580Jan 10, 2014 1:44 pm Thanks for the info, bt91, I was also interested in finding this out. Did you end up adding any more power points over the standard inclusions? I've put a deposit down for a double storey, anyone have experiences to share regarding how long it took CH to build their double storey? I'm in south east melbourne if that made any difference to your builds. 0 4987 We are at the stage on our build in Kilcoy, Queensland where we need to get our fencing installed but we cant get any contact details for our neighbours to give them… 0 6173 You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14126 |
