We didn't waste our money on people with a certificate inspectors. They seem more worried about cosmetic stuff that really will never cause an issue. So instead, we are using another builder who is a friend of the family and been building homes for 25+ years. He also has a little certificate saying he can inspect new homes...but he has the important stuff saying he knows how to BUILD them. Anyways, he went down for pre-slab/slab all fine. Frame, he marked issues on a list for us, we went through after SS had inspected with theirs, all same issues corrected. Nothing to bring up. So far their independant inspectors through the building phase have been spot on. No doubt if we chose one of these inspection companies they would of picked up useless cosmetic junk that will never cause an issue except delay our build and annoy our SS (our inspectors words). For the record, he has done 4 other Carlisle homes, main issues he finds is paint/plaster finish. Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 2649Feb 21, 2012 9:52 pm We used Alex from Urban Property Inspection. Money well spent and totally worth it. 26/2 - Sales 23/3 - Colours 31/3 - Tender 14/4 - Contract 7/5 - Taps 12/6 - Site start 15/6 - Slab 27/6 - Frame 1/8 - Lockup/Fixing 29/9 - PCI 25/10 - Handover Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 2650Feb 22, 2012 10:09 am mr.21 Madison27AA Love the entrance and ceiling looks great CBPH. Plasterers have also been going mental Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 2654Feb 23, 2012 11:36 am Hey CBPH from what I have heard you might have made the correct choice in Carlisle over PD for more then one reason stay tuned Site Cut 8/04/12 Slab 13/04/12 Frame 18/04/12 Roof 07/05/12 Lock Up 06/06/12 Keys 30/08/12 Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 2656Feb 23, 2012 12:00 pm dan1978 mr.21 what house from Carlisle are you building? I found out this week that owners of PD sold and now own Carter Grange I do know one thing, whatever is going on, friends of ours PD build has not been touched in almost 4 weeks. Halfway through bricking and no one to be seen. They have struggled to get any answers from PD just keep getting told there is a delay with trades. Who the hell starts a bricking job only to go to another 1/2 way through? From a sales member I know personally with PD, things were tight. Very tight. Is there truth in it?? Who knows, but whispers always start from someone close to the truthful source. Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 2657Feb 23, 2012 4:01 pm I heard from a trade that worked for PD and now works for Carter Grange that they cant hold down their tradies as they are trying to be bottom dollar for them and all the good ones have left. Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 2659Feb 23, 2012 7:52 pm PD & MET are both struggling at the moment... Very dangerous times for who ever is building with them.... Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 2660Feb 24, 2012 2:48 pm Hi guys, just a some questions about contract with CH. We have had our tender 2 weeks ago, and our contract appointment is next Wednesday. During these 2 weeks after tender, we had made some changes/corrections and these are all recorded down as Post contract variation. I was told on contract day, the contract will be the same as the tender and all the changes/correction will be seperate on a Post Contract Variation list and we have sign both. my question are, 1. Is that correct? we are signing something on the contract that is incorrect or have removed items 2. do they miss these post contract variation during building? because its on a seperate list from the contract? thanks 0 4987 We are at the stage on our build in Kilcoy, Queensland where we need to get our fencing installed but we cant get any contact details for our neighbours to give them… 0 6172 You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14124 |
