Done - let me know if you don't get it - it was the first PM i sent so I don't know if it worked Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1484Jul 19, 2010 7:10 pm Thanks Sleven. I received your pm. Are you in a fibre optic community? As I went through your package, it does not look like a smart wiring package (with paytv, free to air tv points). Is that right? Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1485Jul 19, 2010 9:20 pm huntclubber Hey guys, Has anybody done smart wiring at your house through CH? I talked to CH and they offer two main packages. 1. One home theatre socket and 3 other wall sockets 2. One home theatre socket and 7 other wall sockets I am planning to build Westbury 26 which has got 4 bedrooms, 1 rumpus and 1 living. I would like to have a Smart wired wall sockets for each of these but CH said they don't offer such a package and I have to go with the one with 8 sockets. Why do I have to pay for 2 extrac sockets that I won't use just because CH is not flexible? I could have gone with another third party contractor who could have done this job for a much cheaper price with my requirements. Not happy jan Has anybody managed to talk to Argus and asked for a customised package for your home? I remember reading on this forum some time ago about someone who was also not happy with the prices for smart wiring with CH and they apparently got cheaper quotes elsewhere and took it to CH and after alot of hassling got Argus to match the other quote. As with any builder, you really have to fight to get your way! Stand your ground or else you'll get walked all over! Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1486Jul 19, 2010 9:28 pm huntclubber Thanks Sleven. I received your pm. Are you in a fibre optic community? As I went through your package, it does not look like a smart wiring package (with paytv, free to air tv points). Is that right? I think you're right, Huntclubber. The package that includes the 3 phone points is a standard phone line & trenching package. I don't believe it's the smart-wiring stuff. This is how it reads on our Tender: "Provide telephone point and trenching package as follows: Provide trench, conduit and cable from the telecommunications supply pit (if available) connected to a Madison box on the outside of the house, ready for connection by the client's service provider. Connection fees are to be paid by owner following settlement of the home. Also provide 3No. internal phone points as per client to (locations) as per electrical sketch. Not available in Fiber Optic Communities or areas where overhead power supply exists." Hope this helps. Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1488Jul 19, 2010 11:03 pm hi huntclubber... i got the opticomm 4 pack and that is the 1st package on your list.. during our colour selection process, i told CH that I want additional data points and this took them forever to figure out if they can do it.. to make the long story short, they don't want to put just additional data points as their plate has also the TV points... i know that this can be done but they just don't want to do it.. i gave up and just settled for the four points... Can you please send me (pm me if you can) the package you went with and whom you obtained other quotations from? I am finding it pretty hard to deal with CH for technical stuff. When I asked them if I can extend the 4 pack, they said they can't. Then I called Argus and they explained things a bit more clear and said I can add internet and phone points for 4 pack. I am having my tender appointment this week. Can I add these extra points add the tender? If I am to get other quotations and get Argus to match them, do I have to do it by the tender? Help please !!! Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1492Jul 20, 2010 10:04 am You can change anything you like at tender. We were presented with our tender and it came in a bit high. We advised them that we wanted to take it home and review it. We didn't sign nor pay for our tender at the tender appt. Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1493Jul 20, 2010 11:00 am I agree with what huntclubber said "I am finding it pretty hard to deal with CH for technical stuff." I asked CH quite a few questions regarding with the expansion joint on laminate timber floor, my CLE just threw me back a phone number for Glendale Carpets, which I already have it from this forum. As someone from this forum said before "the location of expansion joint can be decided by installer", so do your guys think if it's possible to change 9m continous flooring to say i.e. 7m, where in my case, just in the hallway passed the lounge room and between two walls so after handover, I can at least put a double door there on top of the expansion joint. (that was my plan to add a door in the hallway to seperate from the lounge and family area). Otherwise if it has to be exactly 9m, that would look horrible when you walk in my house. Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1494Jul 20, 2010 11:40 am Has anyone been to Glendale Carpets and saw the colour of expansion joint? I am wondering how many types of expansion joint Glendale Carpets has? Have you found one matching with your timber floor perfectly? Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1495Jul 20, 2010 2:19 pm Hi WenZi07, I have been to Gledale carpets. They have a number of expansion joints there and they would put what's more suitable for the floor we choose. Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1496Jul 20, 2010 2:54 pm Hey guys, Just to avoid the expansion joint issue, I am planning to have tiles to the entry area and rest of the house with laminate floors. CH just got back to me and said it's every 10 m that they need expansion joint. I have seen this in Westbury 26 in Williams landing and didn't look that bad. What do you guys think? Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1497Jul 20, 2010 3:01 pm Yeah I was contimplating the same thing with the tiles to the entry. But I think I'm ok with the expansion joint. I think I'll manage to get over it - besides I want to put real hard wood timber floors in in a few years so i was even thinking of voiding my warranty and going without! But I think the entry with tiles would look nice Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1498Jul 20, 2010 3:42 pm sleven Yeah I was contimplating the same thing with the tiles to the entry. Do you think it'll be a big job to rip off tiles in the entry at the time? Tiles to the entry didn't look bad at all at the Westbury 26 at Williams Landing. Ever paid a visit there? Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1499Jul 20, 2010 4:01 pm We just sold our unit where we ripped up tiles and I swore I'd never do it again!! It makes soooo much mess and it was back breaking work!! Yes I visit Williams landing all the time I think I'm addicted to visiting display homes!!!!. I have also seen them in the Tarneit ones I think in the Monaco they have the entry hallway in tiles and the family/kitchen in floating floor boards. I like it especially if you do a nice feature tile and really make it a grand entrance!!
