I have spoken to a couple of people from Carlisle homes (head office) and they said that if the expansion joint is sticking up, it's definitely a mistake and they will fix this. They were pretty sure it shouldn't be sticking up. So raise it up with a director at Carlisle homes, mentioning it's not the same quality as display homes and demand them to fix it. I am sure you have a better case here.
Cheers,

Hi Huntclubber,
I was also tole by CH that "All Laminate timber flooring installed will have an expansion joint and this is usually where the end of the hallway meets the main living areas."
I read the post on this forum and still do not understand why the laminate timber flooring need an expansion joint whereas hardwood timber flooring does not as CH's display home?
Anyway, I am going to talk to CH's director, can you tell me how I can get to touch with director directly? Do you have director's direct phone number or mobile number?
Hi WenZi07,
I am affraid I don't have mobile or phone number of any of the directors.
As I have been told by a few people and the person from Glendale carpets, laminate floors do not hold together without expansion joints as they are not that strong whereas hardwood timber flooring do not need any expansion joints as they tend to hold together. It's the material. At least, If we can push CH to get us a pretty flat expansion joint (As per saraq's pictures), I'll be happy.
Let me know how you go.
Hi huntclubber, I also would like to see Saraq's new pictures, can you please pm me? Thanks.
