I guess I expected the Infastructure Levy and the Asset Protection to be around $1000? How much did you pay? I can't remember if you are in Cardinia Shire also.
Our bricks were just category one as we decided to upgrade to Colorbond roofing and refridgerated air conditioning as well as heaps of other extras throughout the house.
Hi Smelly Melly,
Yes, we're also in the Cardinia Shire. I never knew what to expect of the Infrastructure Levy and Assett Protection etc so I called the council right from the start. It has been over 6 months since that phonecall but I do remember it totalling somewhere around the $1500 mark. I remember that the Infrastructure Levy was around $500 and the Assett Protection was around $1000 (bond and permit), but the bond (which is around $800, as I recall) is refundable at the end of construction (as long as there's no damage for you to repair first!) and the only part that isn't refundable is the Assett Protection Permit, which is only around $200.
What Cat 1 bricks did you go with? We were so close to getting the refrigerated air-con in the house, but have read that alot of people were not very impressed with the workmanship (when getting it through CH) so we thought we'd play it safe and do it after handover, and hopefully get a system on sale in the dead of winter!!!
What house are you building? I'm sure I have probably asked you before, but I get everyone mixed up on this forum... I forget who's who! What other upgrades did you choose? We didn't choose many upgrades and now I'm wondering if we're missing some important ones because we were so rushed at the time of Tender/Contract signing, etc. If I end up with a big list of things I would like to change or add, then I won't mind so much paying the $500 Post Contract Variation fee!
