Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 28, 2009 1:14 pm Hi All We currently live in Sydney, but will be building a Grandview 36 in north Brisbane. Our preliminary contracts are currently being prepared. We are flying up to Brisbane for a bit of a look-see in a couple of weeks time and we want to have a look at Baumonts for tiles, check out brick displays etc etc. I would appreciate it if you could tell me where to go (nicely ) to look at tiles etc. Also, are you able to just go into Studio M to have a look around or do you need to have an appointment? Also, before your official Studio M appointment, do they give you a list of what options there are for bricks etc and what is standard or an upgrade, or do you just rock up and find out on the day I would appreciate any advice you could offer. We went to Studio M at least four or five times, we followed different people around to hear what you get (as you aren't meant to ask anyone for help without a appointment). So we had worked everything out before we got to our appointment. Helped us as it meant we could listen to what they suggested as upgrades. Good luck Forum thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22300 Re: Question for M$tricon builders in Brisbane 3Sep 28, 2009 8:01 pm Hi Northbound, There's a bunch of Beaumont stores but the best one to go to is the one at Loganholme as that is the one where you will do you tile appointment and they have all the pricing sheets etc. (if you wanted smaller, bigger, porcelain etc.) As for Studio M they are open to public to look around on Saturday only. They are at Robina which is on the Gold Coast. Has all the things you want to see there for inside stuff...except for bricks...we're getting rendered so didn't have to choose them...but i think they recommend going to Austral displays etc. Only thing you get no idea on is the electrical..you basicall rock up on the day and pick stuff..there's no price or range list given out before the appointment. They have products from Beacon lighting but only a small subset. We'd gone to Beacon and found all the lights we wanted only to find we couldn't get them done..so had to put a bunch of bayonettes to get replaced after handover..also didn't have tastics which i was quite surprised at. We went to the tile place a few times and Studio M tce before our real appointment. If you tell Beaumonts your a Metricon client they'll give you a sample of tiles that you like so you can take them when you go to look at Studio M. Hope that helps a bit. I see from your other thread that you are going to build in Ningi - Sandstone Lakes? Where abouts? We had no end of problems at every stage of our process and I would never build with them again. We have been in about 14 months. That said mjl is in the same region and has just had a smooth build from what I have read. Would agree with everything Nightshade said worth the drive to Loganholme rqther than the little local Beaumonts. Are you moving up here before consrtuction starts? Anything house specific you would like to know crop me a line! Much appreciated. Better make sure we bring the GPS with us, as it looks like we have some trekking to do Anne, I have previously read your whole blog about your build and from it I learnt so much, so THANKYOU. Based on your experience I know to get the kitchen island bench made bigger (like you see in the display home). I am so sorry that you had to go through hell with M. I know what that is like as we built our current home in Sydney with Cla$$ndon several years ago, and we would not build with them again. I must say though, as this will be our second time building and we learnt so much from our first build, that we have no intention of putting up with any cr@p from M, so builder beware!! I will drop you a PM if you don't mind as I do need some help with "local things" like schools etc. Chat soon.
