Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 20, 2007 5:18 pm Well I just had a call from the site supervisor who seems very friendly and helpful - wow what is going on. The excavator guy came today and will finish off tomorrow. Nextweek the surveyor and something else, concrete not far behind. Yeah!!! it is happening.
I'll post some pics on my blog after the weekend or as soon as I get out to see it. 3xb http://www.ourlittlepatch.blogspot.com/ Re: We have finally actually started 3Jun 20, 2007 6:16 pm Congrats!
You will be amazed how quick it will take off from here. On my site, the excavation started on June 2nd, and now, just 18 days later have had the concrete and steel piers put in and inspected, the piping done, the engineered slab put in, the wood, windows and steel beams delivered and electricity connected on the site. The frame work starts tomorrow I've been told. Good to see the speed, now just keeping the fingers crossed for quality. Re: We have finally actually started 4Jun 20, 2007 8:14 pm 3xb,
Hurry up will ya! no frame yet? your so slow Re: We have finally actually started 5Jun 20, 2007 8:23 pm I'm so jealous....
We don't even own our dirt yet. Still traipsing through display homes - I'm well over it. We will be renting for the next 12 months.... hope it's worth it in th end! Checked our your blog: Your previous home looks pretty damn nice! Cheers Perry Re: We have finally actually started 6Jun 20, 2007 8:29 pm Hey 3xb - do formula homes have their designs on a web site somewhere? Difficult to work out what designs they have.
Dandenong Ranges - nice. I built a house in Upper Ferntree Gully a few years back (a whole other story) Perry Re: We have finally actually started 7Jun 21, 2007 9:57 am Congrats!
We're starting today...looks like we are last to start the race! Maybe we'll have to get the shire to spring a suprise inspection to ensure your permits are in order!! They have done the excavation work and the place looks completly different. We got a good couple of inches of mud on our boots.

Try their website at : http://www.formulahomes.com.au They have others and they will make changes but you can get an idea from their website. Our starting price was $125000 and we then added everything we wanted and of course our special requirements for council, fire etc. 3xb Re: We have finally actually started 11Jun 25, 2007 12:13 pm yes, definately neck and neck!! We are hoping to have slab down around the 2nd July - weather dependant!
Checked out your blog, looks like a great setting!! Interesting coloured soil, very red/orangey...is it all like that around your area? Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: We have finally actually started 12Jun 25, 2007 12:42 pm vanderlay yes, definately neck and neck!! We are hoping to have slab down around the 2nd July - weather dependant! Not sure of the exact date for us but around that time sounds about right. vanderlay Checked out your blog, looks like a great setting!! Interesting coloured soil, very red/orangey...is it all like that around your area? Yeah, I think so. It seems to be a type of clay but it does break up pretty easily. It is more soft and crumbly when dry rather than clay I am used to where it becomes hard and stone like. I was surprised by the total lack of stone and rock. i am hopeful that this is going to be a good growing medium (except perhaps for plants that don't like wet feet eg. avo). as it seems to hold moisture quite well but is not too hard for roots to break into. My main concern is that it is so muddy and stick to shoes like glue. Gotta get a lawn going soon, can't have the kids walking that in every day. I could talk about my soil for ages, really really sad.... 3xb Re: We have finally actually started 13Jun 25, 2007 12:59 pm 3timesbuilda I could talk about my soil for ages, really really sad.... 3xb Hey we understand....after all that waiting even some dirt movement is really exciting!!
